There were times where he was unable to distinguish between his dreams and Fate Wheel visions. Often, the two tend to intertwine and it left him at a position where he didn't know whether what he dreamt would manifest into reality. However, it was moments like now where he knew that he was stuck in the past, living the life of another, seeing and feelings things that exist outside of his understanding. It was different this time, as though his subconscious had fully bled into a vessel that does not belong to him, and it was clear that he was now existing in a completely different realm of time and space.
It was mystical, watching as the translucent water descended from the mouth of a howling Wolf, with its snout pointed to the very sky where the moon was round and fulgent. It left him feeling breathless, as if the sight had been the very hands that eased his muscles and allowed him to relax. Surrounding the statue and the canopy above was a marble expanse with intricate writings etched into the ground, each square metre was covered with ancient scribing that he couldn't possibly translate and along the outskirts were towering, quartz pillars that were cocooned with flowered vines that spiralled endlessly.
Sasuke deduced it was a place of worship of some sorts, but it was familiar, as if it was a place he had visited frequently and sought for guidance and solace. Gentle hands cupped the water that flowed from the fountain, hands unmarred by the fruits of war nor had it appeared to have been calloused and refined from years of training. A blank canvas that basked in the moonlight and trepidation that filled the atmosphere.
This time, there was a face to the woman he had been seeing in his dreams for the past week or so, and the sight of her had sewn his throat shut as he struggled to breathe, and the tightness in his chest was a problem he could no longer ignore. Her features were delicate and soft, like someone he once knew, her golden hair in gentle waves that cascaded down her back, and eyes that resembled a calm night. There was no intensity behind her gaze, only a child-like inquisition, as if she was constantly questioning why everything was the way it was and was determined to find the answers to her endless questions.
He didn't notice subsequent to her drinking water from the fountain, but upon her arrival had she placed offerings of different assortments of herbs and flowers, all in which he had recognised, and knew that these items were an act of worship towards the diety whom she worshipped so vigorously. Every day and every night, her time was spent in isolation within the pillars of this temple as she gazed out into the ocean, desperate for guidance or a sign of what to do.
"It is inevitable." She finally spoke, Sasuke was intrigued, this was the first time she ever spoke in his visions. "I have tried to avoid responsibility, but to no avail. I mourn my mother so greatly, yet, I cannot help but feel reprehensible towards the anger that is festering within me. Along with her death, she had passed down this curse unto me and I do not know how to approach my future actions. I can feel its presence, it hasn't spoken, but it is there waiting for me to slip."
"I do not want it." She announced so firmly, her face contorted with anguish and anger, he was taken aback by her resolve. "I do not wish to host Kaede nor do I desire to wield the wheels of fate, such power is admirable but I am not naive to its curse or the burden that I now bestow. A part of me is grateful, I am aware of the poison that has seeped into the hierarchy our society is built upon and now I have some jurisdiction over the future of our village. However, it is a destiny that was thrusted upon me and I had no say in how my future will play out."
