Wind rustled the dead trees. Most dragons would shiver at such cold air, but she was used to it. She'd been here long enough to grow used to the chilly winds and dark light.
A distorted moon sat high in the sky. She didn't need light, though. She knew this place like the back of her talons.
She moved through the forest, making sure to keep quiet. The screeches of hurting dragons echoed through the air. She ignored it and kept going. It was just another thing that she'd grown used to.
She stepped into the clearing. The pale blue-ish gray dragon turned to glare at her.
"You're late."
"It's not the end of the world." She sat down and curled her tail over her talons. "Where is he?"
"On his way." The blue-ish gray dragon looked away from her again. For the first time she noticed how he was digging his claws through the dirt. She leaned a little closer to get a better look. It was a clear layout of the Kingdom of the Sea.
"That's where we're striking first?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at the other dragon.
He shot her a look. "Do you have any better ideas?"
"Yes, actually."
He snorted and went back to drawing. "I'm running this. We're doing it my way."
She scoffed. "Pathetic. What's the point in forming a team if our ideas are useless to you?"
"Are you here because you're good at teamwork?" the other dragon snarled, not bothering to look at her.
"Well you clearly aren't," she growled.
He ignored her. She snarled and dug her claws into the ground.
Why am I working with such an ignorant dragon? Family or not, he's as dumb as a scavenger!
"You better be ready," the other dragon said suddenly. "The time is coming."
"We still have to prepare the trainees," she argued.
"Obviously," he snarled. "But we attack as soon as everyone's prepared." He lowered his voice a little as he added, "Which better be soon."
She rolled her eyes and walked back into the trees. "It'll be soon enough, you impatient excuse for a dragon." She looked up at the distorted moon.
"Everything for these dragons is about to change."
