It's the day I leave for the Sacramento airport for the vacation that was planned so last minute. It's probably a good thing that I am leaving Montana, except that it's only been a month since I moved here! I feel that it's almost unprofessional to go back home right at this minute.

I sit in the teachers desk as I teach these freshmen about the f(x) type of math and how f(x) equals to y and how to graph it. It was the easiest part of my degree. However, nothing about a math degree was ever easy.

One of the students raised their hands.

    "Yes?" I asked them.

"Why does f(x) equal y?" He asked me.

I took a minute to pause and think of an answer that was bullshitting, but also pretty correct.

"So," I started explaining. "With f(x), you plug x as the original equation and you try to solve for y."

As I finished explaining the bullshit answer I gave the kid, he nodded and smiled. It actually made sense. Phew!

As the students went to work on their work, my phone started playing Cake by the Ocean and the kids were staring at me. I declined the phone call and immediately got a text from him.

The text read: Aww. You never decline a phone call.

I responded to the text: I'm sorry. I'm teaching right now.

He responded to my text: Oh! I'm so sorry for bothering you. I'll text you later :kissing emoji:

I looked at that kissing emoji and I rolled my eyes as I put my phone away.

The last bell rings and everyone leaves the room, I left last, grabbing my bag and heading to my car. I called him and he answered immediately, laughing.

"I'm so sorry for interrupting you," He said. "I didn't know you were in class."

I sighed. He knew I was in class, he was just playing around with me. He still doesn't know about the ringtone I gave him that would probably annoy him if he found out.

"It's not fine," I replied. "But please don't do it again!"

He chuckled and then I put him on speaker.

"No really," He said. "I didn't know you were in class. I thought you were on your prep period."

I forgave him. Now that he has announced his divorce, this was probably the last time I ever get to teach at this school, or any school for that matter. The month was fun while it lasted I guess.

I landed in California and the first thing I see is my name on a sign. I walked over to the sign and it was Tessa holding it for me. I walked over to her while holding my suitcase and she hugged me so tightly I could not feel a single thing. I could not feel my blood rushing a single bit.

"I am so excited to have you here!" Tessa shouted. "You'll be back to your...job... by Thursday, alright?"

    "Alright." I replied.

After what is going to happen at that concert, I could tell that she is not going to be happy and I am not going to be able to tell her that it's all a lie to fix his reputation.

"Are you excited to go to the concert, Jess?" She asked me.

"Not really," I lied. "They still sound like they're having orgasms while they sing, even when they're live."
