VIVAAN:

As soon as she left, mom turned to me.

She slapped me so hard that I stumbled a little and looked at her shocked.

She never raised her hand on us. I understood what I did was unforgivable.

"I am so disappointed in you. I am ashamed to even call you as my son." She said making me look at the floor ashamed of myself.

"You broke that girl to an extent that she couldn't even cry telling us what you did to her."

Saying she left us with dad following her to their room.

I didn't reply. I hurt Nivi so much that she was suppressing her hurt, feared of feeling the pain.

"You know, being the son of someone like our dad's, I thought you would treat women with the respect they deserve." Vanya said her voice shaky with crying.

"Growing up by seeing how dad treats mom, the love he shows on her, I imagined you would treat your woman the same way. But now after what you did to her, I am scared of trusting men. I don't think I can handle that type of humiliation." She said before going to her room.

I felt disgusted by myself. If I had control over my anger and my my words, things would have been different. If I had not listened to my fears, Nivi would have been with me.

I thought I was protecting her from me. With my anger issues, I didn't want to hurt her.

But I did the same thing which I was afraid of. I broke her.

I wanted to apologise to her. I want to be with her and my son. My son! I want to be in their lives.

But how? She is not willing to listen to me. I want to get drunk.

But I can't. I promised her not to drink.

You promised her, you won't leave her too. My subconscious mocked.

I broke my promise and the result is here, haunting me.

I got into my car and drove aimlessly around the city. I don't know for how long I have been driving but it started to rain all of a sudden.

I stopped the car on an empty highway and got out. Drenching in the rain seemed to be a best option to sooth me.

But it did nothing to my anguished soul.

Sighing I got back into the car and drove to my pent house.

I decided I would try my damnest to get her back.

NIVEDITA:

Mittu's pained face haunted me the entire night.

You are misunderstanding him Vijju's words rang in my ears.

What are his reasons? Am I really misunderstanding him?

"Mom! Your phone's ringing." I heard Bittu yelling from the hall.

I just then smelled the veggies burning on the stove.

Shit! I cursed under my breath. I forgot about them lost in my thoughts.

Hurriedly I removed the pan from the stove and threw the contents away.

I came to the living room where my mobile was ringing.

It's Varun. Frowning I answered the call.

"Nivi, you have to come to Mittu's penthouse now. Vijju is on his way to get you." He said anxiously

"Why? What happened?" I asked worried.

"He is burning with fever. We tried waking him, but he was mumbling about you in his sleep." He said that made me more afraid.
