When Pete returns to Venice's room with a new warm bottle, he finds his father sitting with his son on the edge of the bed. The alpha's head is drooping, and the baby is whimpering and fidgeting.

"Let me feed him."

At first, they don't even react to him.

"Khun Teerapanyakun. I understand everything... but the baby is hungry. I'll feed him, put him to bed, and leave."

"Get out," it sounds quiet, but with contempt.

Pete takes a deep breath:

"Later. And now I need to feed the baby."

"Get out of here. And don't you dare come near my son anymore. Who are you to touch him? He had the best dad in the world.… And now…"

And now he's gone. And you blame yourself and everyone around you for the fact that he's gone.Pete knows this bitter, heart-poisoning feeling. In the early days, he tormented himself, saying: maybe I'm some kind of "outsider"? Maybe it was me that some kind of disease was transmitted to the baby, which instantly ruined him?..

"Although it is difficult for you to accept this, but I can understand your pain."

"Understand my pain?.. What can you possibly understand!.." the alpha goes back to shouting.

"It hasn't been a month since my baby died the next day after birth," Pete holds back tears on the underside of his eyelids, "so, yes... I can understand," Pete clutches the bottle to his chest, "and now give me Venice before everything gets cold here. You'll have time to yell at me later."

In such cases, they say something like "sorry, I didn't know" in response, but the alpha is silent. Pete doesn't judge him. He really understands everything. Only, bending down, he takes the child from the alpha without resistance.

"Now, my angel, you're going to eat," the alpha gets up and goes to the window, and Pete changes places with him, "that's it, little one, let's eat."

For a while, only Venice's satisfied smacking is heard in the room, then omega hears:

"He is still there. Inside the nearby building... tomorrow I have to go there for identification."

Pete's chest is twitching: the way he and Mark were shown their forever asleep Niran will forever remain one of the worst nightmares in reality.

"And I do not know how to find the strength to go there and look at him... at my Sunan. Why did it all happen like this? Why did I stay alive and not him?.."

The same questions. Pete is bitter again: he cursed Heaven in exactly the same way that he stayed alive, and not his baby. It was only much later that he realized that it would not have been easier for his Mark. However, at such moments, everyone is sure that their grief is incomparably stronger than the grief of anyone else.

"I'm sorry… Don't you have any relatives? I mean…"

"We both grew up in an orphanage. That's where we met… How happy we were! And now... what's left now? Why should I live?!.."

Pete gets up and walks to the window with the baby in his arms:

"Just look at this little miracle. That's who you need to live for. Against all odds. For his sake. And for the sake of — no matter how much you resist this thought right now —yourself."
