The otherwise grand mansion look more beautiful today, decorated with mirrors and white roses, the fragrance of rich perfume and candles adding to the atmosphere.
People, though few, but genuine, adorning themselves in kurtas, sarees and lehengas with precious stone studded ornaments with happy faces filled the area. Waiters in white and black uniform serving the guests with drinks, tasty dishes ready in the buffet to be served, people called in for the entertainment programs getting their instruments ready.
Everything screamed happiness.
Ruchi was in her room, getting dressed for the event. Wearing a pink lehenga with silver thread works and minimal makeup, she looked nothing less than a pink rose. The necklace done with emeralds and matching ear rings gave her the perfect princess look.
"I hate heavy jewelry," Ruchi said, adjusting the necklace around her neck.
"But you have to adjust today," Sai said, looking at her.
"Why don't they make it light..." she started complaining, while adjusting the ear ring.
"Shhh.. No complaints today," Sai said, making her quiet and fixing Ruchi's dupatta in place.
"Ahh, just look at you," Sai said, staring at Ruchi through the mirror and looked at herself in it. "Lag rahi hoon na, ekdum taka tak," Sai said and Ruchi pulled her ears.
"Ruchi di, you are the only person in this world that I have seen, who gets angry when someone gives you a compliment," said said, rubbing her ears.
"Sai, don't get me started. I am already feeling uncomfortable with this heavy dress, ornaments and all these unnecessary stuff," Ruchi said, glancing at her phone.
Clearing her throat, Sai continued with her game. "Why blame these poor non-living things when the actual reason for your condition is something else, I mean, someone else?"
Ruchi gave her a warning look through the mirror and Sai winked at her in return.
"Jaane Meri Jaaneman
Bachpan Ka Pyar Mera
Aaj aane wala hai," Sai sang, moving as if she was in a couple dance with an imaginary dance partner."Stop it," Ruchi warned, clenching her fist, and closing her eyes, to keep herself away from embarrassment.
"Sacha Mera Pyar Hai
Jaan Tujhe Kiya Hai," Sai continued with her singing."This is my final warning," Ruchi said, trying to bring anger to her blushing face.
"Bachpan Ka Pyar Mera... Aaah.." Sai's singing turned to a playful scream as Ruchi stood up from her seat and started chasing her.
"Stop there badmash," Ruchi said, running behind Sai, in an attempt to catch her.
"Ha ha catch me if you can, Vedant ki deewani," Sai teased, sticking her tongue out, running to the opposite side of the room.
"Sai, once I get hold of you, you are finished," Ruchi warned and was about to leap onto Sai when the door opened and Usha mausi appeared, her eyes wide in amusement.
Ruchi and Sai composed themselves an stood straight.
"Oh God! I thought it was some kids troubling you. But no, the to be bride and her sister is creating the ruckus," Usha mausi said. Ruchi and Sai passed each other a glance.
"Mausi, she was teasing me," Ruchi complained, moving towards Usha.
Usha mausi gave Sai a stern look and Sai pouted, her expressions asking, 'What did I do?'
