Jade Leywin POV
It has been 10 months since my wedding and I was currently in my study in the mansion Virion gifted to me and Mai, I was busy reading through a massive pile of paperwork I brought here from the Castle
This sickening amount of work had been pushed onto me due to Arthur's absence since after retrieving the last keystone months ago he entered the in-between realm once again, this time he managed to reach it by combining his two spatium godrunes with the power of the compass, in order to obtain whatever insight the keystone contained
As for why he went to the trouble of secluding himself in such a place well Mordain informed us that the djinns he saved millennia ago warned him that the last keystone had a special security measure installed, to put it simply the keystone would trap whoever attempted to obtain its knowledge until they succeeded, of course this meant that if the task proved impossible the one who entered the realm inside the keystone would find himself trapped forever, it has been over six months since Art entered the in-between realm and none of us had any idea of when he would come back, we all just trusted him and waited for his return
Despite all of this though I was in a good mood, actually I was absolutely elated as I was looking forward to tonight's dinner when the whole extended family would come here
Suddenly I saw a shift in the environmental aether and a second later I sensed someone appearing in one of the training rooms in the basement, a smile crept up on my face as I wondered how in the world he managed to get the perfect timing
Getting up from my desk I headed towards said training room and I reached it just in time to see Art coming out of the door
"I'm back" he said with a smile as I took him in a hug
"Glad to see that I won't have to find a way to reach the aetheric realm to kick your butt" I replied laughing
"Oh yeah I'm glad for that too, I have no doubt you would have somehow succeeded in doing so" he stated as we broke the hug, right before he departed for the aetheric void I told him that if he'd ever get himself trapped inside the keystone I would have found a way to reach him and then I would have sent him out of the keystone realm by beating him
"So how long has it been?" he asked, returning serious
"Around six months give or take a day or two, perfect timing by the way the whole family will come here this evening so you can wait here" I told him as I gestured him to follow me and we moved back to my study
"I would gladly take your offer but I promised Tess I would go back to the palace immediately after returning so as soon as you finish debriefing me about everything that happened I'll head there, where's Mai by the way?" he replied as we walked
"Sleeping, she needs to rest" I said and he just nodded
"Jade, just because you two are married now it doesn't mean you can..."
"Not because of that, friendly reminder that differently from you I still need to sleep" I quickly stated interrupting him
We reached my study and I casted a soundproofing barrier around the room, none of the servants working here would ever spy on us but you never know who might be listening, the rooms of the second floor of the mansion and the lab actually had a built-in barrier you could activate with a switch but it paled in comparison to what I could cast
"So, can I interpret the fact that you're here as a sign that you've managed to acquire Fate or at least some insight leading to it?" I asked him as I started brewing some tea
"Yeah, after completing the keystone's trials I received the knowledge I needed to obtain Fate" he replied
"So you can use it? Can you like erase Kezess from existence?" I asked curious
