Your POV

Flashback

"Hey, love. Can you pass me that pen?"

I reached over and handed the pen to the girl across from me, hiding my blush when she flashed me the sweetest smile.

"Thank you," she said gratefully.

I watched as she began scribbling down whatever she was thinking about. I loved watching her work. The way she wrote songs was truly an art.

"You're staring," she said without even looking up.

I couldn't hide my blush this time as she finished what she was writing and looked up at me.

"Can you blame me?"

She laughed lightly at my response before sliding her notebook over to me.

"I think I just finished the bridge," she told me excitedly as she came over to sit next to me.

"Oh, nice," I told her with a smile. "This looks perfect. Can you sing it for me?"

She rolled her eyes at me playfully. She knew I just wanted to hear her sing. She pulled me over to the piano and handed me the sheet music.

I began playing the piano for her and her eyes fluttered closed as she let the music take her. She sang a little chorus before the bridge started.

"The sky is green, the grass is red
And you mean all those words you said
I'm sure that girl is really your friend
Our problems are all solvable
'Cause loving you is loving every

Argument you held over my head
Brought up the girls you could have instead
Said I was too young, I was too soft
Can't take a joke, can't get you off
Oh, why do I do this?"

I watched her shamelessly as she winded down after the bridge was over, my fingers moving flawlessly over the piano keys. I didn't even need the sheet music. We had played this song so many times.

"I look so stupid thinkin'
Two plus two equals five
And I'm the love of your life
'Cause if rain don't pour and sun don't shine
Then changing you is possible
No, love is never logical"

"You're kind of incredible. It never gets old," I told her, watching her smile widen as her eyes opened.

"It's missing something," she responded after a second, resting her head on my shoulder.

"An outro," I suggested, continuing the piano where I left off as I brainstormed lyrics.

"Logical, logical
Love is never logical
I know I'm half responsible
And that makes me feel horrible..."

I could feel her eyes on the side of my face as I sang lightly.

"And you say I'm incredible," she shook her head lightly. "How about we come back to this? A little break won't hurt."

I continued to look at my fingers which were lightly playing the piano keys.

"We're never going to finish this song," I laughed, knowing that she was too hard to resist and I would fold as soon as I looked at her.

"Y/n..." She trailed off, reaching up to tilt my face in her direction.

"Y/n..."

"Y/n."

I snapped out of my thoughts when my name was called, only to see Olivia waving her hand in front of my face.

"Where'd you go?" She laughed, tossing a notebook into my lap. "Thinking about your boo?"

God, I'm a piece of shit.

Being back in her studio was bringing back waves of memories. I wasn't like fantasizing about her or anything. My head was just all over the place lately.

"Funny," I rolled my eyes playfully. "What is this?"

"The lyrics I have so far are bookmarked."

I turned to the page she was referring to, reading over the lines quickly.

"Teenage dream," I read the title on the top of the page.

"You've got a good start to this song," I started after reading the first verse and chorus.

She was really letting it all out in this album.

"I'm going to be honest. I don't know how much help I'll be writing a break up song but I will do my best," I joked with her.

"I should've called one of my single friends," she joked back, shoving me lightly.

"I might be able to help in a couple months..." I trailed off with a humorless laugh.

"Don't say that," Olivia smacked my arm lightly. "How are you guys doing, anyways?"

"Good," I smiled lightly. "I really like her. It's kind of scary."

"Why is it scary?" She asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"It's scary because we signed a contract saying we'd break up in four months."

"I forgot about that part..." Olivia trailed off, leaning back into the couch.

"I wish I could forget about that part."

Honestly, that was the only thing holding me back from completely falling for her. The last thing I wanted was to let myself fall in love just to have Ethan tell me there was no chance.

"Hey," Olivia gained my attention. "I know you're scared, but I really think you should go for it. You like her. She likes you. Can they really make you guys break up if you both refuse?"

Actually, yes. I do think they can do that.

"I don't know..." I trailed off. "We talked about it. She told me we would figure it out together."

"At least you guys are communicating. That's always a good thing."

I nodded at her words. That was indeed a good thing.

"I tried to get her to come with me today," I said with a laugh.

"Awwweee. She should have. Maybe she could've helped me with my breakup song."

She laughed loudly when I flipped her off for mocking me.

"You're an ass. You know what? We're about to finish this breakup song."

I stood up and walked over to her piano.

"What key is it in?" I asked her when I sat down.

"Who said it was a piano song?" She asked with a small laugh.

"I can already tell it's a piano song."
