"I can't just let her die out there in the woods, or wherever she went." I say to James. "what if you don't come back? how do I know you're not going to leave me?" He shouts.

I am silent for a minute. "Well why would I? This is your pod. I wouldn't survive." I try to persuade him to let me go. He thinks about this for a minute then says: "fine. Be back by nightfall." He stands up, kisses my cheek and climbs up the ladder.

I walk out of the pod and walk to the side, avoiding the main entrance to the woods. I then walk down Dayi hii the small pathway that leads to the cabin she is speaking about. It's all quiet.
No birds are alive to chirp, no animals are alive to rustle the bushes that are now just twigs and piles of frozen leaves.

Then I hear a twig snap. I spin, not being able to see properly and hear a gunshot. My arm. I look down at my arm that is now bleeding, and then I look up. James is holding the gun and is running towards me. I run to the side and hide behind a tree.
JAMES POV
Why would she go down this path unless she doesn't want to leave me? I don't want her to leave me. She's all I have. I Spin around, trying to find her. "ALICE. I SAW YOU THROUGH THE WINDOW. WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO LEAVE ME." I shout. I shoot a bush and hear a scream, and see Alice running from one tree to another.

I check behind the tree. She's not there. "Alice don't fucking run from me" I shout as I see Alice  running down a path again, I shoot her but keep missing.
ALICES POV:
If I don't make it out then blame James. I'm hidden behind a tree and he keeps shooting thin air saying it's me. I have to defend myself before he finds me and kills me.

I slide the knife out of my pocket and slowly stand up, trying to make as little noise as possible. I grab the knife and hold it up, and throw it at James. It spins and spins and James turns around and shouts "ALICE-.." before the knife hits him in the skull.

The regret floods my body just as fast as the blood from his wound floods the area below his head. I don't know why I killed him, maybe I took this too far? No. He tried to kill me. After shooting his body, I walk over to the lake not far from the murder sight of James and Chuck the knife into it before sitting down and staring. Just staring.

I have no one now. James, my boyfriend, is dead and god knows where Olivia is. How I miss Olivia. I didn't  even know her that well. She was a good friend, nevertheless.

I wonder where she is, I mean she said she was going to the cabin but there's no light on in there. Maybe she went further, maybe my time is out. Another friend I let walk away. Maybe James was too controlling, or maybe I was too submissive, or just too naïve to tell if he just wanted me for survival or to keep him warm.

I killed for him, and I killed him.
I killed him.

Did James deserve it? No. Maybe.
I shouldn't have let him kick Olivia out like that. It was cruel and unfair. He wasn't even injured as bad as she was. SHE was the one who should've been properly medically treated not James. His gash wasn't that deep.

A twig breaks behind me.
"Alice?" I hear.
I Spin around and see Olivia standing behind me. "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN" I stand up and run over to Olivia, wrapping my arms around her and hugging her tight. I pull Away and we make eye contact for a good few seconds. Then she leans in and we kiss. Our real, first kiss. And the worst part about it, I enjoy it. I like it.

"What about James?" She says. "He's dead" I say. "I'm proud of you" Olivia hugs me again and we head back to the pod. "Did you get the remote from James pocket?" I ask Olivia when we're back inside of the pod. "Yep." She says and clicks the large purple button, sealing the barrier around the pod.
"we can finally sleep tonight. we have no destination for the morning, no rush, no urge." I sit on the bed and wait for Olivia to join me. She lies down next to me and rests her hand on my stomach. "Well if you still want to go to New York to meet those angel things" Olivia says. "There's no point, what would they do if they were alive anyway. It's not like they could move the moon even if they wanted to." I laugh and stare out the window.
"Oh wow you can see him from here." I point to the body of James that you can see clearly from the window. "I can't look at that stab wound it makes me sick to my stomach." I look away and rest my head on Olivia's shoulder. "Olivia, how did you get to Carolina from Texas" I ask. "A pod. I paid for someone to take me, like one of those old fashioned taxis they used to have back in 2030. I was hoping to find my aunt Irene there but she was long gone. Her hotel room was useful, but cold. Hotel bed sheets are too thin." She laughs. "the only one of my family members I know are alive is my cousin ella, but she ran away from my family after I was born. Said there was something wrong with us or that we were a problem. She's rich now, that's what my parents used to say anyway." Olivia stares up at the sealing.

Suddenly, i see something out the window. It's round, glowing, and looks like the moon. "Olivia what is that" I point at it. "Well that looks like the moon doesn't it.." She says, relighting the match of hope I had. I'm onto something. "If that's the moon.. that what the fuck is covering the sun from our vision."
