The consistent sound of footsteps rang around the room as Sarah Reynolds finished her last five minutes on the running machine. She had her headphones in her ears and the music was loud enough to cancel out any distractions. Once her cool-down period had finished on the running machine, Sarah stepped off and grabbed the fluffy white towel on the rail next to the door. She wrapped it around her neck and took a long drink of water. Running always relieved some stress and doing it early in the morning made Sarah much more awake before going to work.
She kept her headphones in as she walked around the outside fitness room to the back door of her bungalow, swaying her hips in time to the music. She would definitely need a shower, this morning's work out had made her sweat like a pig.
She went through to her bathroom and finally took out her headphones, resting her phone on the side. She stripped down to nothing and jumped in the shower, letting the water wash away her stench and stress at the same time. Sarah began to hum to herself and relax into the waterfall. Suddenly, she heard a loud bang which jolted her out of her thoughts. She quickly turned off the shower. Grabbing a fresh towel from the heated rack, she wrapped it around her and trudged around her home to find the source of the noise.
She came into the living room and noticed her window was wide open and banging against its frames. The wind had picked up and the grey swirling clouds were threatening rain. It was supposed to be Summer, but for each week of brilliant sunshine, England ended up having a week of rain to follow. Sarah sighed at the indecisive weather, pulled the window shut and made her way to her bedroom to get dressed for work.
She was part way dressed when she heard another bang, this time from inside the house. Without thinking about extra clothing, she wandered into the hallway just wearing her skirt and bra. Eventually she found a plastic tub had been knocked off of the kitchen side and fallen onto the tiled floor.
"Things just keep getting stranger. Maybe I've not had enough sleep." Sarah murmured to herself as she continued to get ready for work.
She left the comfort and warmth of her home and made her way to the restaurant where she worked, double checking she locked both doors before she left.

Sarah rushed around serving drinks and taking food orders, her blonde locks swaying in a high ponytail. She was just picking up her last order when rain started lashing down on the little restaurants windows.
"Excuse me Miss?" A deep voice broke her from her staring. She turned to see a charming gentleman sat smiling at her. She wandered over and plastered on her selling grin.
"Hi there Sir, what can I get for you today?"
"I would like a diet coke please"
"Is that everything?"
"Yes thanks."
It was a short but simple exchange and Sarah was pleased her last table was easy and quick. She poured a large glass of diet coke, plopped in some ice cubes and delivered it to his table. He smiled and thanked her, pushing a coin into her hand. She thanked him and said goodbye before going into the staff room and getting her things to go home.
When she walked back out into the restaurant she noticed the gentleman had gone and in his place was a young couple, laughing over drinks. She smiled at their radiating happiness and continued outside. Sarah loved her job in customer service, although it wasn't really a career. She loved to meet new people and make some money whilst she was at it – not such a bad job.
When Sarah got outside, she realised how heavy it was raining and the next bus wasn't for another twenty minutes. Just her luck really.
"Excuse me Miss?" The same voice from before startled her.
