Hae-Rin's feet beat on the dirty floor, sound too loud and alarming in her ears.
Her hands were gripping the bat tightly, thumb hovering over the taser button and mind reeling with endless tragedies that were about to happen.
It didn't take long to return to where she had last seen the protein monster and Hyun-Su. In fact, not only did she know where to go, but even if she didn't, she heard the loud slam that happened a few seconds ago and then the other two or so loud wall punches.
When Hae-Rin arrived at the top of the stairs, she felt her heart drop.
The protein monster had its back to her but it was punching the wall on the other side over and over again.
There was a hole in the wall, too, and Hae-Rin spotted Hyun-Su inside it.
She gasped, seeing the way Hyun-Su's eyes were closed and he looked almost dead. The protein monster didn't seem to care, of course, and it kept punching.
Hae-Rin immediately ran down the steps, and when she was on the last four, she jumped on the railing and raised her legs up in the air. Then, as soon as she was high enough, Hae-Rin kicked the monster on its back.
She tumbled down the stairs, falling on her back right behind the monster.
I always wanted to try that. Thought Hae-Rin, groaning in pain. It looked so cool in the movies, but I didn't expect to fall.
The monster turned to face her, suddenly appearing more interesting than the unresponsive Hyun-Su, and raised its hand to prepare for a swing at her- bloody smile and all that.
Hae-Rin pushed herself into a sitting position, raised the bat, turned on the taser and swung it at the monster's leg.
Immediately, the monster began to shake, its hand stopping mid-swing and eyes going wide. Not only that, but it also wobbled to the side a bit, almost as if shocked at the scene.
Unfortunately, since her taser wasn't as big as Hyun-Su's, it didn't seem to do much damage.
The monster was still being tased, still shaking as the electricity went through his body, but after the small shock, its hand continued to lower down towards Hae-Rin.
