Roseanne's POV
I swim in the deep sea, where the Achelous territory lies. The words Diana uttered last time rang in my ear whenever I needed a short escape or getaway. Indeed, I need it more than now. Each year, each week, each day, each hour, each minute, and each second continue to wear me out, draining my energy like a vampire. Sucking the life out of me.
It is funny for me, given my lineage as a descendant of a vampire and a succubus. The sea appears unusually dark, yet it remains teeming with the same creatures that nestled against me several weeks ago. Or is it months? I lost count. As I cast my gaze upon the vast expanse before me, I find myself in search of Leviathan, only to discover his absence. He likely accompanied his Master on the expedition.
I look over the cave, finding a light scattering inside, intriguing my curiosity. A head peeps through the cave, startling me as I come in defence. However, the sight of the creature before me freezes me, preventing me from launching and attacking it. "Levi, what are you doing here?"
His violent face changes as his eyes dilate, looking at me. He came near me, pressing his head against my hand for some unknown purpose. The calmness washes over me, and I notice how many smiles I have left despite the tragedies fall upon me. However, the Leviathan's gaze remains filled with such intense longing that I cannot help but meet his eyes fully. He averted his gaze towards the cave's depths as if attempting to communicate a message.
"Do you want me to go inside?" I gently ask, stroking on its steel scale.
It nods, motioning to jump on him to get a quick ride. The darkness engulfs me as soon as we get into the cave. Silence fills the air as I scrutinise everything inside with my supernatural abilities. Regardless of my weaknesses, I am still a Scion of this Empire with enough capabilities to exceed the normal ones. Bewildered by Levi's sudden change, he continued to explore deeper inside the cave until we saw a body lying on the ground.
As soon as my gaze fell upon the silhouette, my heart quickened, racing to fill my lungs with breath. As my mind explores various scenarios, I become acutely aware of the trembling fear that courses through me. Levi could feel it, offering comfort. But I could tell he was worried as well. As I got off, like a shark that effortlessly glided in the water, I ran towards her weak body, scooping her cold body into mine.
"Diana! Diana! Are you alright?" I scream, taking her face and watching her respond.
To my fear, she didn't even move, and I couldn't even hear her heartbeat. So, I did what I had done, giving every last of my mana to save her so she could start her heartbeat. Yet, it doesn't even work. Why!
My watery eyes meet Levi's, pleading with him as I am lost on what to do. "Levi, can you transfer your power to me? So I can use it for Diana?"
Without much hesitation, the creature immediately blew away its energy into my body as I could feel how powerful its mana was. Ignoring that thought, I could only focus on the woman in front of me, terrified she would die at my hands. So, I put my hand on her chest, summoning every power that is enough to make her heartbeat and conscious again.
I look from Levi to her with every determination, silently praying that this would work. God, please let it work. "D'cere Hághes Valeant!" I cast the spells onto her heart.
Staying silent, holding my breath, and slowing down my heart rate, I try to listen to her heartbeat. Even the faintest one would be enough to give me hope. A hope to save her, a hope that I have the power to save someone with my hands, not to destroy it. Yet, fate is cruel; it's been 10 minutes, and I haven't heard from her.
