LOOSE OBJECTS IN INEZ'S DORM FLEW ACROSS THE ROOM AS THE TWO SCREAMED AT ONE ANOTHER, to them it was a weekly occurrence— and their way of communicating.

The brunette girl picked up a frame and launched it in Chico's direction, hurling with it an insult only she'd get away with spitting. "Yeah, Chico? You're a bitch! Stay the fuck out of my business. I don't fucking need you!"

"Fuck you, Eva!" He screamed back, not daring to take a step closer to her. "I put too much into you. Everything I fucking have! You throw that shit in my face, huh? You gonna let that puto fuck with your head?" Chico retorted, tapping at his head like a crazy man while he stared her down.

A scoff tumbled from the back of her throat. "What am I? Some kind of fucking experiment? 'I put too much into you' What does that even mean?" She asked, her entire body trembling with anger. "Nobody fucks with my head the way you do, Chico. You're truly a fucking gift."

"Why are you like this?" Chico stressed, pacing her dorm back and forth. "Why are you fucking like this!" He repeated, swiping along a shelf in her room and forcing everything to the ground.

"We have this conversation every other fucking day and I tell you every time— give up!" Inez got in his face, shoving him into the wall. "Give up, Chico."

His face dropped, his head shaking slowly with disbelief as he fixed his posture. "Nah, hermana. Nah." Chico dismissed, softly approaching her. There was not a single trace of anger when he spoke to her again. "I don't give a fuck what you do— I'm never leaving you out here on your own. Elijah will haunt my ass." He half joked. "Your brother was my boy. He was my family. You're my family, Eva."

Inez took a large step back, glaring at him. "Yeah? Look at what being your family got my brother. Where's he at, Chico?" Her words felt like a dagger right through his heart. She sat at her desk, burying her head in her hands in hopes of concealing her sobs.

Chico crouched in front of her, looking up at her through the gaps of her arms. "I notice things, Eva. And since that puto got here, you've been different. You never got involved. You never drank. He comes along and you suddenly care about the rats? You're angrier than usual. You're not sleeping anymore. You're drinking. Did he do something, Eva? I'll kill him."
