Matt's POV
It's 8:00 pm. I'm sitting on the couch, watching football, when all of a sudden, I get a video call. It's from mum. I join the call, and I can see her with one arm wrapped around her girlfriend.
"Hello Matt! I've got great news to share! Stacy, well, she proposed to me! We're engaged! She's going to be your new mum!"
"Congratulations!" I tell her, as she displays the ring to me. I then think to myself, is now the right time to tell her? I've been bottling it up for so long, because I was afraid of what dad would say. But now he's gone, and mum herself is a lesbian, she wouldn't mind what I have to say.
"Hey, mum. I've got something to tell you."
"I'm listening"
"I'm bisexual."
Mum and Stacy both smile on joy. "Good on you, Matt! We will both support you!"
I smile in joy, knowing that I'm accepted. I wave goodbye to mum, but she doesn't notice, and instead kisses Stacy. A great deal of stress and burden had been lifted off my chest.
Percy's POV
The Brindall family had made themselves at home, despite only moving in two weeks ago. As I toured their house, I looked at pictures of the family. In the master bedroom were pictures of Matt's mum, along with a tanned Asian woman wearing bright dresses and with her hair tied back in a tight ponytail. This lady was who I presumed to be Stacy. I then looked at pictures of Matt himself over the years. Pictures of him as a toddler in a sandpit, pictures of him graduating primary school, and pictures of him as a teenager, holding an award for skating. I decided to check on him and see how he was doing. He was downstairs, on a phone call. I creep over his shoulder and see him on a phone call with his mum and the Asian lady in the photos from before. The two ladies seem very happy. I decide to not perv into Matt's private life too much, so I levitate away, when all of a sudden, I hear him say something that stops me dead in my tracks:
"I'm bisexual".Perfect! I think to myself. All I have to do now is make the first move. But how? Should I just pop into existence right in front of him. No, that's terrible. On the other hand, I have no other choices. What should I do? In order to think, I levitate through the door and into my room, or what is now Matt's room, pacing in the air, thinking about how I should make my move. The door flings open, but I ignore it, as I cannot be spotted. At least, that's what I thought.
"Who are you!" I hear Matt shout in surprise. Shit, it appears that I became visible while stressing myself out. I quickly try to go invisible again, but it's no use.
"Wait, you're that kid that was murdered" he exclaims, pulling a picture out of his pocket.
"Yep, that's me. I'm Percy, Percy Quinn"
"But, but, what are you doing here! You shouldn't be alive!" he shrieks out in terror.
I cover his mouth so he cannot shout. "I'm not alive, I'm a ghost, dummy. I'm just able to interact with the world when I need to."
"Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why were you killed?"
I sigh and decide to tell him my story. "My father was very abusive, and would assault me frequently.""Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Why do you stay in this house, considering it must bring you bad memories?"
"I can't. I have to spend eternity here."
"Wow, it must get really boring, just, sitting here, nobody to talk to" says Matt, leaning in a bit.
"It used to be like that." I reply. "But now..."
Matt leaned in as well. I look him dead in his eyes. We both sat there, waiting for something to happen, but it didn't seem to occur. Instead, Matt replied "I guess now you have me to keep you company."
"Yeah, I guess so" I reply, pulling away. Gosh, that was awkward, but I can't deny there was some chemistry there. I turn away, and so does Matt.
