Chapter 41.
╚═══════

With the exception of Frey being livid with Mattheo, the Valentine's Day wasn't turning out to be so bad for Mattheo and Artemis.

"I am not doing that again. I feel like I have frostbite where I shouldn't have frostbite" Artemis giggles to Mattheo. The dark tunnel back to the castle only bearable because she has Mattheo to hold onto.

"Maybe you should get so wet next time?" He just couldn't help himself. It was right there. He had to say it. "I mean, who can blame you, I am a very good looking young man" she cannot even see him properly, but she knows that he's smirking to himself.

"Laugh it up" Artemis tells him.

"Oh, I don't find it amusing, I see it as my own personal challenge to get you to that level of excitement while we're indoors next time" Mattheo chuckles to himself.

"As long as we're somewhere warm..." she grumbles. The cold has never been a friend of Artemis'.

Mattheo steps out of the passageway first, and immediately he pushes Artemis back through the passageway to shield her from view. Because a certain greasy-haired professor is striding right towards him.

"Riddle. I have been looking for you all day, where have you been?!" Snape certainly finds it curious that he finds Mattheo near such a statue, when it was a favourite hangout of Alfred and his gang back in their days at Hogwarts.

"I've been...around" Mattheo offers lazily. "It's a Saturday" Mattheo reminds Snape. Does he have nothing better to do on the weekend than chase Mattheo around.

"Your Potions essay was abysmal. It needs redoing before Monday's lesson" Snape throws the crumpled parchment of Mattheo's homework back at him. Snape looks suspiciously at the statue. "What are you doing here, Riddle?" Snape asks suspiciously.

"Out for a stroll" Mattheo replies.

"In snow boots and a coat?" Snape is picking up the scent that something was amiss.

"I walked outside" Mattheo hisses back snidely at the professor.

Snape doesn't believe it for one second. "Turn out your pockets, Riddle. NOW!" Snape demands of the boy.

Mattheo has nothing he needs to worry about, until he remembers that the Marauder's Map is still sat in his pocket. If only he had checked it before he stepped out of the passageway then he could have avoided old foul-face.

Mattheo pulls out the blank piece of parchment.

Snape snatches it from Mattheo's hand. "What is this, Riddle?" Snape demands of Mattheo.

"Parchment" Mattheo speaks back. Like it's something that is so obvious to Mattheo that Snape should be embarrassed that he doesn't know what it is.

"Drop the attitude" Snape warns Mattheo. "Why are you walking around with parchment in your pocket?" Snape bares his horrible teeth in an even worse smile.

"Well I wasn't going to stick it in my shoe now was I?" Mattheo barks back at the teacher.

"Enough!" Snape barks back at the boy's attitude. Snape produces his wand and places it on the parchment. "Reveal..." Snape speaks.
