"When was this?" he asked.
"you know, when I uh.."
"when you cried.." he whispered in realization.
"I mean, you don't have to remember me being that but yeah—"
Shawn cut me off when he started laughing. I can't help but feel embarrassed, now he knows that I have feelings for him. I'm not usually this careless and I don't know what's gotten into me for letting that slip up, heck, I never wanted to open up the topic again.
"Sorry" he said, still laughing a bit. "that was just funny"
"well I'm glad you're having fun" I mumbled and took a bite from the garlic bread.
"that's my sister"
I snorted and choked up on the piece of garlic bread. "What?"
"Technically, she's my step-sister and she was quite surprised about the whole ordeal so she's been wanting to visit for a couple of times" he explained.
"Your sister..." I said.
"Yes" he said and glanced at me. "Wait, is that why you w-were crying?"
"What?"
"We're you j-jealous?"
"What?!" I exclaimed standing up.
He seemed taken aback and he stopped the forkful of pasta midway to his mouth.
"I-I don't—"
"Bella" he said seriously. "I was just teasing, finish your food"
He looked at me with a smile on his face but his eyes reflected that he was hurt. I licked my dry lips and slowly sat back down, letting the guilt build up and thinking over whether to just say it or not. The clashing of utensils and nature can be heard.
"It's really pretty" he said, breaking our silence.
I looked up at what he was staring at and he was looking up.
"Yeah, it is" I said looking at him.
Woah that was some cliché shit, is this what I get for watching those dumb rom-com series?
"I like the city lights too" he sighed dreamily. "they're similar to the stars and they can give me a sense of companionship when the stars aren't around"
"too bad they're not visible during the day" I commented.
"It's okay, the darkness makes them shine brighter"
As I gaze upon his eyes, I made up my mind to tell him what I feel. There won't be any difference if I tell him now or later, I feel like my inside would explode if I let this in me for any longer. I don't give a damn if he returns my feelings or not, all I know is that this is the person that I want to cherish and protect and being with him makes me feel ecstatic and at peace.
"Shawn" I called.
He didn't seem to hear me since he was so mesmerized by the view so I leaned in a bit and called again.
"Shawn"
"Yeah—?"
My eyes widened at our proximity. Our noses we're touching and our lips we're centimetres apart, one of us moves and our lips would connect. I couldn't move in my place and no words come out of my mouth. The confidence that I built is now crumbling and slowly being washed away and the only thing I could think of is the soft pink lips of his.
Bella, you fucking pervert—
"I-I—Ahh!"
I screamed a bit when I felt something brush against my leg and tumbled forward, pushing Shawn on the ground and me being on top of him but the position isn't what made me stop.
