As the golden rays of the morning sun filtered through the window, they fell upon her face, causing her to scrunch her brows in discomfort. She turned to the other side of the bed, pulling the blanket over her head to block out the light. After five minutes of tossing and turning, she finally surrendered to wakefulness and sat up, rubbing her eyes and yawning.
Meanwhile, her grandmother, made her way upstairs towards her granddaughter's room, clad in a tinted pink silk saree that shimmered softly in the morning light, her footsteps were slow yet steady. Her hair, a dignified shade of white, was tied in a neat bun, accentuating the graceful lines of her face. Reaching the door, she twisted the knob gently and entered the room to wake her grandmother who would as much as not stir in her sleep even if an earthquake comes. Her gaze softened as she saw her sitting on the bed, her legs crossed and a pout on her lips as she rubbed her sleepy eyes. Her tousled hair framed her face, making her look irresistibly adorable in her grandmother's eyes.
"Hey Krishna, aaj Surya Dev kaha se aaye hai? Rajkumari ji bina kisi ke bole hi uth gyi!" Her grandmother exaggerated, her voice dripped with playful sarcasm, though her eyes sparkled with adoration.
[Hey Krishna, from which direction has the Sun rise today? The princess got up on her own!"]
She looked towards the voice, finding her grandmother standing at the threshold, her figure framed by the soft morning light. "Aap kaho to wapas se so jaati hu, mujhe dikkat nhi hai!" she retorted, her voice still sleepy, blinking her eyes innocently and flashing a toothy smile.
[I'll sleep again if you want that, I don't have a problem!]
"Don't you dare? Go and get ready for school." Her grandmother commanded, her voice stern yet she had a softness in her voice as she spoke to her granddaughter before turning around making her way downstairs.
She chuckled listening to her grandmother, clearly enjoying her annoyance as she slid down her bed and started folding the blanket.
"Okay G-maa." She affirmed, keeping the blanket at the desired place and smiling softly at her.
Just as she heard the endearment, she spun on her heels looking at her granddaughter with a scrutinizing gaze as she spoke, "Kya G-maa? Ye G-maa kya hota hai? Dadi maa bol." She began her tone slightly amused slightly stern, her eyebrows raised as she pulled her granddaughter's ears twisting it but not causing her pain.
