"Hey there, how's my little M and M." He pronounces it so funny.

"Eminem is broken."

"Is Susannah really mad? I really didn't mean to worry her or anything like that."

"She's fine, she could never be mad at you."

"Mum definitely hates me."

"Well she can't talk, one year when Susannah rented a margarita machine." He whistles.

"Do you think anyone was celebrating my birthday? Or were they all here for the fourth?"

"Well I was celebrating your birthday."

Silence hangs for a moment.

"You know that everyone forgot."

"What?"

"Yeah, this morning everyone needed me to say, it didn't even cross their minds. Except Conrad."

"Well you and Connie have always had a bond haven't you."

"Yeah I guess so."

"Now go see the fireworks. Quickly."

I shoo my dad out the room and change into a pink floral swimming costume and I head downstairs.

I head outside but make an abrupt stop when i see Conrad stand out on the dock, watching the sky light up.

I walk over and lean next to him.

"So...does everyone hate me now?"

"Who could ever hate you Y/F/N."

I secretly scream inside at that comment.

"So i think my mum just got railed."

"What?! By who?"

"I don't know." I laugh.

"Go Laurel."

Suddenly music begins to play from inside the house.

'And i can't talk to you when you're like this, staring out the window like im not your favourite town, i'm new york city. I'd still do it for you babe.'

false god.

"Y/N about the necklace."

"No i'm sorry I brought it up."

"I did get it for you."

"Then why didn't you give it to me?"

"I don't know. I got embarrassed I guess."

"Why?"

"Eminem you don't know the effect you have on people."

"What? I don't know what you're talking about."

"Yeah, you do."

He leans close to me, and I lean close to him.

Our lips brush the slightest bit, before we both pull away.

A firework comes dangerously close next to us.

"Jesus." I gasp.

'We might just get away with it, religion's in your lips.'

The song continues to play as we gaze into each others eyes.

One of my favourite memories of the summer in Cousins started with a song, and ended with a boy.
