"You want us to be your bridesmaids?" Farida asked Fatima again for the second time
"Yes" Fatima responded nodding
"Aren't your friends supposed to be your bridesmaids?" Manal asked as Fatima looked at her before looking at Maryam who was giving her an irritated look
"Well yes but I don't really have that kind of friends and you all have been very good to me this past few days I can't think of a much better preposition than this" Fatima said looking back at Manal
"I don't have a problem sitting in as your bridesmaids but shit it sounds bizarre, it's going to be my father's wedding as well" Summaya said as Fatima looked at her
"I can understand but please do it for my sake" Fatima said as Summaya nodded
"I will" she said
"Well I guess I should also join in" Farida said as well
"Me too" Manal said before they all turned to look at Maryam
"Not me, you three carry on I'm fine coming as a guest with my husband and kids" she said before sending Fatima that glare which no one noticed except Fatima
"It's okay, I get it that's why I didn't ask you anyways" Fatima said to Maryam.
She still finds it awkward speaking to Maryam especially with everything that happened in the past, she won't say she's sorry for it neither does she feel sorry cause even though she's getting married to Alhaji Shehu, Aliyu still remained in her heart and she's not giving up on the idea of making him hers.
Aside from that Fatima was really getting along with the rest of the girls and Summaya is kinda glad the woman is getting married to her father.
"Alright then I guess we should start discussing about the wedding" Manal said
"Dad's handling the whole event preparation-" Summaya said but didn't get to finish as Maryam cuts her off
"I still wonder why" Maryam said
"What do you mean?" Manal asked
"I wonder why his taking on responsibility for all the events plan when the bride's family is supposed to take some on" She responded making eye contact with Fatima
"He decided to do that on his own" Fatima said
"It's okay his your soon to be husband so I guess it's fine if he wants to take care of it himself" Farida said
"Yeah I don't see a problem with it as well" Summaya said
"Hmm" Maryam let out giving Fatima a disgusted look before looking away from her and continued eating her food
"You good?" Manal asked Maryam as the woman nodded
The girls carry on their conversation about the wedding without Maryam cause she clearly didn't want to have anything to do with the conversation.
Deep into the conversation Fatima was excused cause she got a phone call from Hajiya Nafisa, Aliyu's mum she wanted to answer privately.
"So you're seriously going to marry that old man?" Hajiya Nafisa said from her tone Fatima could tell the woman sounded disgusted by it
"I have no choice" Fatima responded
"Well good thing I called cause I have a suggestion for you and that's if you still want Aliyu for yourself" she said
