"BREEZE!" His mother roared as she hurled herself against him.
"What is it mother?" He pleaded as the tall figure of his mother had managed to pin him to the ground, he had noticed his voice sounded different as well, kind of weird?"DID YOU TAKE OFF YOUR EARRINGS?" His mother screamed as a puff of smoke came out of her nose.
"Why? I just felt like I needed to take them off!" He said as he struggled beneath his mother. He stared up and the watching dragon who seamed to be enjoying the fight.
The watching dragon raised an eyebrow, amusement flickering in his eyes.
"YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO!" His mother exclaimed as her voice cracked slightly."You never said anything about taking them off!" Breeze exclaimed back as his mother seemed to ignore him.
"WHERE ARE THEY NOW?" His mother shouted in his face.
Breeze looked in his talons to realise he had dropped them on some grass that had been smothered by him and his mothers fighting.Quickly the icewing who had been watching grabbed the earrings and threw them into the stream.
Breeze's mother frantically got off of him and started searching through the river stones for the earrings.
"FLY!" Shouted the Icewing at Breeze.
Breeze managed to pull his slightly bruised body up to fly beside the Icewing, who felt quite familiar for some reason, was already hovering above him.As they ascended into the sky, Breeze could see the pain in his mother's eyes, still desperately searching for the lost earrings amidst the rushing water of the small stream.
As he watched he realised that his mother had done this for no good reason, she had just tried to attack him so he leaving her must be the best choice, for now.
As he made the decision to leave his mother behind, Breeze's heart ached with a mix of guilt and determination.
"Quartz are you ok?" The Icewing said as they were a good distance away from his mother.
"I'm sorry I don't know who that is." Breeze replied guiltily to the dragon beside him who seemed to frown upon him saying that.
"Do you know me?" The dragon tried as they both continued flying towards wherever Breeze was being taken.
"I'm sorry once again I don't know you, but you seem familiar, like...a tree in the distance on a foggy day and you can't tell wether it's actually a tree or another dragon, Y'know?" Breeze replied, not sure wether it was just better to say no.
The Icewing looked at Breeze with a mix of concern and confusion.
"It's a start." The Icewing said sombrely.
"Do you have a name?" Breeze asked cautiously."You already know it though? You just said it before your mother arrived." The Icewing responded with a very concerned expression.
"What do you mean?" Breeze replied, confused.
"It's magpie." He hissed quietly.
"I'm sorry, was that why you thought I was Quartz? Because I said hello to the magpie and then you turned into a dragon?" Breeze asked Magpie.
"And I was right." Magpie muttered quietly.Breeze felt a need to continue the conversation but it might be awkward.
He flew beside magpie for quite a while as they passed over a few more valleys with dragons around a market.
Wherever they were going it was getting dryer, like a Savannah where mother had once brought him on a trip near the sandwing's kingdom.
He felt his wings start to tire which definitely wouldn't of been the case a week ago but something was strange about his wings and his scales felt colder and bit itchy.
"Uh, sir Magpie? May we stop now my wings are awfully sore!" Breeze blurted whilst waiting for Magpie's response.
For a moment Magpie seemed to ignore him but then replied, "Soon, when I find a good place to land, far from the closest town or outpost, I hope." Magpie replied as if he seemed as tired as Breeze.
Breeze decided to help as he craned his strangely long neck to search below them as the sun started to reach midday and he felt way to warm for his own liking.
Before Breeze could say anything Mgapie dived down to a small clearing surrounded by a few Acacia trees and shrubs making what appeared like a small fort which felt comfortable, like his cave home.
As Breeze settled down he felt Magpie's presence beside him which he felt was strange but something about him also felt as if it was right.
"Are you alright magpie?" Breeze asked which seemed to startle magpie.
"Yes I'm fine, you just are acting like never before, Quartz." Magpie said whilst staring at Breezes eyes for a bit."I'm sorry but I have no idea who Quartz is!" Breeze replied feeling a bit upset and frustrated that Magpie still saw him as a dragon he had no idea was.
Magpie turned his head away seemingly upset at Breeze.
As Breeze had no one to talk to he remembered that he hadn't even caught anything from that stream that morning (which he had ment to do).
He also felt a bit of pity for Magpie so he decided he may as well go get him something as well as an apology of sorts which he hoped would work maybe.
Breeze stood up and stretched his wings which seemed to block the bit of sun pointing at Magpie which he hoped was a good thing because he certainly didn't like the sun as much as he used to for some reason.
He managed to get through some of the brambles of the bushes as well as a few spikes of the acacias that got caught in his wings, which was an uncomfortable experience.
He stretched his back and arms as soon as he got out of the circle of trees and go search for some impala or kudu around a small lake of sorts (preferably close by)
Breeze flapped his wings a few times before ascending and pointed in the direction of a practically overflowing waterhole full of antelopes.
