In his arms

Gunfire shattered the air around them.

"Let's go," the man that was holding Kaida said.

"What?" Kaida asked, scared.

"He is going to pay me way too much for you. We are leaving," he said, dragging Kaida away from the fight.

"No, no, no," Kaida started to try to run away but she was way too exhausted.

"Stop moving," the man said, annoyed.

"No! Nikolai! Please! Someone!" Kaida screamed with panic. "Nikolai! Nikolai!"

"Shut up," the man hit her on the face strongly and covered her mouth.

"Please" Kaida begged to herself. Tears running down her cheeks. She couldn't go back, she couldn't.

"What are you two doing barefoot and half naked on the mud?" Nikolai asked Alina and Mal. "Looking for truffles, I hope? Next time I'll try getting captured. Just to keep things interesting,"He gave Mal a rifle. "Shall we?"

"I can't tell who is who!" Alina protested.

"We are the side that's hopelessly outnumbered," Nikolai said.

They heard a shout. Nikolai's men moved forward, driving the Grisha ahead of them. They were being herded.

"What's happening?" Alina asked, confused.

"This is the part where we run," Nikolai said. "Wait, where's Kaida?" he asked concerned.

"Nikolai!"Kaida's scream made Nikolai snap his head towards the darkness of the forest.

"Kaida," Nikolai whispered, ready to start running after her.

"I'll go with you," Alina said.

"No, take all the people to safety," Nikolai didn't allow her to argue because he started running as fast as he could.

Kaida bit his attacker's hand making her mouth free.

"Nikolai! Please!" she screamed again.

"Bitch!" the man punched her in the face, making her fall to the floor. Kaida felt the savor of metal in her mouth. She took her hand towards her lip to feel blood on it.

"I'm not going back," Kaida whispered.

"I don't care what you want," he said walking towards her. He grabbed her arm and forced her to get to her feet.

"No, no, please. You don't know how that place is," Kaida said terrified.

"I don't care. I just want my money," he said, forcing her to walk.

"Kaida!" she heard.

Her eyes lit up, "Nikolai!" she screamed.

"Shit," the man said, raising a gun pointing at the way where Nikolai was coming from.

"No!" Kaida screamed and pushed the man's arm to another direction, making him miss.

"Don't move!" the man screamed at her angrily.

"That's not how you should treat a woman, especially someone as beautiful as her," a shot ran through the air and the man that was taking Kaida away fell to the ground, lifeless.

Nikolai wasn't even looking at the man, his eyes were on Kaida who had her cheeks wet because of the tears and with a bruiser on her face and a broken lip.

Kaida turned to look at him. She started shaking and tears started to run quicker than before through her cheeks. She walked towards him and so he did until she was finally surrounded by his arms. She started crying on his chest but hugged him by the neck.
