Samsung Medical Centre ... Waiting Room

Taehyung rubbed his eyes aggressively in a futile attempt to rid them of heaviness. It was 2 a.m. in the morning, but he was still lingering around in order to hear what the doctor had to say about Jungkook's condition.

Jungkook's parents were there too after coming in on a KTX bullet train from Busan. His father was devastated, and his mother was angry.

"If only Jungkook settled down with a woman," his mother lamented. "We wouldn't have had all this drama."

"Stop it! Our son can't help who he loves."
"But -"
"Stop it!" His father interjected, feeling offended on his son's behalf. "Jungkook's mistake was falling for the wrong man. It's not a sin for him to be attracted to men."

Mrs. Jeon sighed in defeat. Jungkook's brother, on the other hand, was not so convinced. "Actually, it is a sin. That's why he's had things so bad for him lately. Jesus didn't allow his wedding to go through in order to save him from a sinful union, but he still chooses to date men. He's being punished by the Most High for going against the natural order of-"

"Jung-hyun, THAT'S ENOUGH!" Mr. Jeon shouted, earning the attention of the other people in the waiting room.

As they sat in close proximity to them, Taehyung and Jimin overheard everything. Taehyung would have already been aware of Jungkook's homophobic older. He felt like punching him.

Mr. Jeon turned to Taehyung, his eyes expressing the pain he was feeling inside. "Thank you for saving my son. The police told us that it was you who found him."

Taehyung nodded. "I was."
"You were his wedding planner, correct?"
"Well, I was for most of the time leading up to the wedding. Namjoon fired me days before."
Mr. Jeon tensed at the mention of his name. "Hmm. Looking at how things turned out, it would have been better if Jungkook was marrying you instead."

Taehyung couldn't tell whether or not he was serious or was just trying to make a slight joke in a tense situation. Either way, he didn't get the chance to respond as Jungkook's doctor approached them.

The Jeon family rose to their feet immediately, awaiting an update.
"How's our son, Doc?"

"After 5 minutes of not breathing, one can develop irreversible brain damage. Miraculously, Jungkook won't have any issues. You guys should thank whoever administered CPR and restored his breathing for that."

They all turned to Taehyung, who was still seated.

"Thanks to the CPR, his brain wasn't deprived of oxygen long enough to cause any lifelong effects to his brain. I can't guarantee that he won't be emotionally affected, though. He is most likely traumatised."

The doctor escorted the Jeon family to his room, leaving Taehyung and Jimin behind.

"Tae, let's go home. You need some rest."
"But I want to see him."
"Tae, his family will spend a lot of time with him for now. Plus, he's probably not even awake right now. You can see some other time. Hopefully, he's fully conscious by then."

Three days later ...

Due to obsessive fans, Jungkook's hospital room had a bodyguard at the entrance. Some were genuinely concerned but some just wanted a photo to sell to tabloids.

Three days had passed since the murder attempt and so, Jungkook had enough time to reflect. According to the reports, he owed Taehyung his life but he hadn't seen him since he regained consciousness. 'Is he tired of me already?'
