Chapter 34
I felt light-headed, almost at the edge of dropping unconscious. The feeling was strange and it only worsened as the time ticked by. Cain stood in front of me without any fear in his eyes as Knox stormed upstairs upon hearing the sound of his breathing. He was his brother, he knew he was here and he didn't sound so happy.
It was in a blink of a moment before they were against each other, spitting names and groveling while I pressed my back to the wall, hoping to keep my self conscious.
"You need to get the fuck out of here!" That was Knox, though it became difficult to differentiate his voice from Cain's as they sounded almost the same.
"Daddy just didn't give you everything. Everything yours is mine and I don't need to make you remember that," Cain spat out, his voice different, less radiant than before. I had no clue what he was expecting coming out of here but it was surely something.
"Go suck your brother's dick."
"He's your brother to." Cain grinned, mocking him in a way.
Fuck.
"Never in my whole life, short or long, I'm going to accept that fucker!" Knox shot his arm toward the doorway, near to where I stood and for a moment, I thought he was pointing at me.
His words blurred in my head. I let them fight. Interrupting them wasn't going to help. If they wanted to kill each other, I couldn't do anything—especially not when black dots were appearing in my vision.
"He's your elder. Respect him, Knox."
"My dick is going to respect him!" Knox snapped, his eyes darkening and his tone deep and rough while he inched close to his face.
Now they stood face to face, sending threats through their terrifying gazes. I inhaled sharply while readjusting my vision. Knox's hands rolled into fists as his face turned red in primal rage. His pupils grew wide. Cain didn't budge, instead he prepared himself for what was coming next. His claws elongated, tearing from his fingernails and extending to a few good sharp inches.
"I'm not leaving." he whispered, making it clear.
Silence fell in the hallways near to the bedrooms. I pressed my hand against the wall and stepped forward, "Gideon's going to follow you here if you don't leave. And it's better if doesn't comes here." I spoke, my throat aching in immense pain. The words barely croaked out of me.
Cain shot his gaze at me, "And?"
I cocked a brow, "He's dangerous." I stated the obvious while recalling the call I had with Gideon just a while ago, before I began searching for Lucy who was still nowhere near to be found.
He could've already taken her and killed her.
"He's not. He had sworn to not harm any one of you." Cain responded, completely assured of him.
I held back my breath while my face scrunched, "He's been trying to kill Lucy since a long time, Cain. You have no clue what condition we had found her in. And if she hadn't come here, she would've been dead long ago." I reminded him and in just that moment, something clicked into my mind.
"Who the fuck is Lucy?" Cain questioned, his brows raised while his hands spread in confusion.
"Gideon's fucking girlfriend." Knox slipped himself into the conversation, still enraged.
Cain's attention diverted to him. He was surprised to hear it, which meant he didn't know or—I didn't want to go there. I heaved in a quick breath and managed to reach closer to them. My legs barely worked but clutching onto the wall helped.
"Gideon doesn't has a girlfriend," Cain said, "He had never had one, his whole life. He doesn't has any friends or any girlfriends'. Whoever the fuck Lucy is, she's clearly an imposter and you both are fooled." He continued, labelling the stupid banner at the top of our heads.
My lips parted and I glanced at Knox. That couldn't be possible. Lucy told me herself that she was his girlfriend—ex girlfriend and that they had dated for a long time. She knew him, his real name and she knew his brother's, Cain and Knox. She even knew about his curse and me.
It couldn't be possible.
Knox realized quicker than I did and he ran his hand through his hair while turning away from Cain and whispering under his breath, "Fuck," His teeth gritted and he almost slammed his fist on the wall. "I fucking knew it. God dammit!"
"But she knew his name," I looked at Cain with a confused expression tight over my face. The pain and the hunger subsided for a moment as I thought about Lucy. "And she knew things about Gideon. They should've dated if she knew all that information."
"Or that information could've been fed to her by someone we both know very-well has an obsession with breeds that survive by taking souls of others."
My back straightened and eyes widened, "No." I shook my head in denial. I was miles and miles away from him, there was no way he could've send someone.
And for what?
"Where is this Lucy?" Cain demanded to know.
"Probably gone," Knox replied to him instead of me, "She must've taken off when she realized she was going to be caught." He approached me and placed his hand over my back. I shuffled, grabbing his shoulder and his expression quickly changed, "What's wrong with you?" he asked, brows furrowed.
"Nothing." I shook my head, ignoring the insatiable hunger.
"What's wrong with you, Candice?" he repeated, even more concerned. His hand slipped underneath my chin, raising my head to meet with his eyes. Inching closer, horror filled up his face, "Are you okay?"
"Yes, yes, I'm fine. I just need some blood." I replied, and the itch in my throat only grew. I couldn't get rid of it.
Knox unbuttoned his right sleeve and pulled the cloth up before offering his wrist to me. I lowered my gaze, watching the blood pound through his veins. My breaths quickened and I swallowed hard as my mouth watered in hunger.
Nose crinkling, I shook my head, "No, I'll get from the blood bags."
"No, take from me. You clearly need it." He moved his hand to my waist, pulling me back toward him before I could walk away while his other wrist hung in front of me in an offering I could no longer deny.
I took his hand and pulled it closer to my mouth. Without another thought, I pressed my eyes shut and sank my teeth into his wrist, feeding from him. His blood filled up my mouth and tasted different, devouring. I couldn't stop. It seemed like I hadn't had any blood in days when I had emptied blood bags in the kitchen downstairs.
Knox's fingers dived into my hair and tightened as he tried to pull me away before I sucked him dry—not in a good way.
Sighing heavily, I tore my teeth from his wrist and looked away as new life pounded through my body. The headache disappeared itself along with the pain and the blurred vision but there was a tightness still in my throat.
"What's wrong, Candice?" Knox questioned, standing behind me, rubbing his wrist and healing his wound.
My chest rose and dropped as I cleaned the blood of my lips. Only one thought ran across my head and it soon came to my lips, "I think she did something, something with the blood bags. I think she put something inside it."
Cain stepped forward and asked, "Who?"
"Fucking Lucy." Knox growled.
