Marlow Freudenberg: Would You Wait for Me?

                                    

                                          
TW: Talks of suicide 
Marlow froze in the hallway. 
"What did you say?"
"Zeke, or Mr. Jeager, he's or that Zeke is the Beast Titan"
Marlow felt his head spin again. Mr. Jeager was Marlow's favorite teacher, one he could really talk to. Now he was responsible for his death.
"How-how can you be sure?" Marlow asked weakly.
"Gardening club" 
"What?"
"You'll learn soon enough, but those who have died before us, help fill in some gaps. Mr. Ksaver told us."
"And how did the know?"
"He was the one who gave the beast Titan to Zeke."
Marlow put his head against the wall. "How do you give someone a titan?"
"Spinal fluid or something like that, turns you into a pure Titan, then you eat what they call a Titan shifter". 
"He just let Zeke eat him?"
Luke shrugged "well he really didn't have much of a choice"
"I knew they had discovered titans used to be humans but..."
Before Luke could speak Mrs. Ackerman came out of the front office. 
"Marlow your mom is waiting on you. Coach Ness said you took a kickball to the face"
Marlow just nodded. 
"Well you should probably get going, you look like you've seen a ghost" 
"Yes ma'am" Luke said taking Marlow's arm and helping him into the front office.
The two made their way into the front office, where Marlow's mom was signing him out. 
"Oh Marlow, are you ok? They think that you might have a concussion." 
"Yeah he took a pretty hard hit from Annie" Luke said.
"That girl is always take PE sports to serious" Mrs. Freudenberg said. 
Marlow finally found his words. "It wasn't her fault, I...I just wasn't paying attention."
"Well let's get you to the ER. The school nurse wants you to be check out at the hospital, I'm going to pull the car around"
Marlow rubbed his face, his headache was coming back. "How do I even explain this to her to my friends, to Hitch, do I confront Mr. Jeager?"
"You don't"
"What do you mean I don't?" 
"That's the first rule of the club, you can't tell anyone that isn't a member."
"What is this the knights Templar?" 
"There's a good reason that rule is in place, so you remember when Gunther Schultz was outta school for like two weeks last year?"
"Yeah he had mono" 
Luke shook his head. "He tried to tell his parents and they thought he was having some kind of mental break down, he spent two weeks in a psychiatric hospital. He was lucky we had someone on the inside who was able to talk his parents down."
"So I can't tell anyone?" Marlow ask sadly.
Luke shook his head. "I know it's hard, but it's for the best."
"But...I made a promise to Hitch, I promised I wouldn't leave her alone" 
Luke let out a sigh, "if she's still in the MPs she's probably still alive in that world. She won't understand what your talking about."
