Day 59
It all seems surreal, I'm not sure where my family is, me and my brother tried finding them when the apocalypse began, but, we got crowded out of the city and found Shane. Thank God for Shane. Without him... Without him I'd be dead. Long gone. I like to think that things will go back to how they once were, the small mishaps in life that made your skin crawl-I miss that the most. Those small things make this look like the end of the world. Maybe that's because it is.
The teenager closed his notepad and glanced up at Dale who was sat on a lawn chair ontop of his RV.
The Quarry was crowded, it gave Y/N a sense of security that others will be looking out for him.
The Quarry was just outside of the city, covered by trees and on a mountain, so, any danger, the lookout will be able to warn the others.
Y/N and his brother were saved by Shane, who was travelling out of the city with Carl and Lori. Dale approached the teen who sat on a tree stump, a warm smile was always on the older man's lips. "How are you doing, son?" Asked Dale.
"Not too bad. Just hoping Glenn and the others come back safe."
"So do I." Dale took a seat on the ground beside Y/N, he cleared his throat and Y/N glanced over to him.
"Hm?" Y/N hummed.
"You need to learn how to use a weapon. In case this... this thing doesn't clear itself up."
"Not this again." Y/N scoffed and kicked the dirt below his feet. "Dale, I'll be fine. I'm not a fighter, that's Nathan's job. I'm all brains, he's all brawn."
"Your brother won't always be around." And with that, Dale stood up and walked away.
Y/N looked over to Nathan, he was speaking with Shane. Those two were inseparable. Growing up, as the eldest sibling, Y/N couldn't help but be envious of his brother. The pair were polar opposites. Nathan was incredibly strong, was a Cornerback in his high-school team, and was even contemplating joining the Marines.
On the other hand, you had Y/N, couldn't even shoot a gun if his life depended on it. He was all brains. He usually made plans for the supply runs, routes to take and who should go based on their skills. He also helped Dale to teach the others how to fish and aided Daryl on how to teach a couple of the others on how to track and hunt.
Y/N looked away from his brother, back into the trees where Sophia and Carl were playing with the supervision of Carol.
He was always caring of Carol, it didn't take him long to put the pieces together of Ed, her husband, was abusing her, probably before the apocalypse. Bruises were usually on her arm and she would always cut her hair short. Y/N presumed it was so Ed couldn't grab it. Of course Y/N never mentioned it, he'd get folded in a second.
Y/N would often spend his time with Amy and Andrea, Nathan would also join his brother. Y/N was always called the life of the group.
He knew how to play the guitar and always lifted spirits.
Deep down, he knew Dale was right. He'd have to change to live.
°°°
It had been a couple of hours since the others left on the supply run, and since then, nothing but silence. Shane tried to contact the military or outsiders with a radio inside the RV but to no avail. Dale was back on watch, Sophia and Carl were still playing.
"Y/N." Nathan smiled at his older brother, passing him a shovel. "Shane wants you to have a weapon on you. And you've got this."
"A shovel? Thanks." Y/N placed the shovel beside the RV. "I'll use it when burying you."
"Hardy har." Nathan chuckled and then sighed. "I'm worried about the others." He mumbled. "They're usually back by now."
"They probably ran into a little bit of trouble. They'll be fine."
"God, I-"
A car alarm began sounding up the dirt road up to the quarry, everyone grabbed their weapons and awaited for the vehicle to emerge.
A Dodge Challenger braked just in front of Shane, Glenn emerged from the vehicle. "Pretty sick ride, huh?" Glenn motioned to the vehicle, leaning on the car door.
"God damn it!" Dale shouted, his shoulders burdened by a rifle. "Turn that damn thing off!"
"I don't know how."
"Pop the damn hood, please." Shane mumbled, stood by the hood of the car.
"My sister Andrea..." Amy stepped forward towards Glenn.
"Pop the damn hood!" Shane yelled.
With Amy screaming in Glenn's face asking about Andrea, Glenn was able to pop the hood and Shane turned off the alarm. "Your sister's fine! Everyone is."
Shane, with both his hands on the hood of the car, smacked his hands down harshly on the metal. "Are you crazy, driving this wailing bastard up here? Are you trying to draw every walker for miles?"
"I think we're okay." Dale looked around, not noticing anything out of the ordinary.
"You call being stupid okay?" Shane glanced back at Dale.
"Of course not. The noise was probably bouncing off the hills. Hard to locate the source."
Another vehicle approached and the van parked just behind the Dodge Charger. Andrea sprinted out of the van and met halfway with Amy, the two sisters pulled each other in for a hug.
Morales' family sprinted for him, the Mexican smiled warmly and picked up his children.
A man in a cop uniform emerged from the truck, his hands on his hips before looking up to Shane.
Shane took a couple steps back, almost as if he'd seen a ghost and had to have a double take.
Carl looked over to the man, his jaw wide open. "Dad!" He sprinted over to the man, who had already began crying, hugging him.
Lori looked at the man and smiled, falling into his arms alongside her son.
Short chapter, regretting starting off at season 1 💀💀, the whole thing is basically just focused on Rick, stick by until season 2, the chapters will get much better 🙏🙏
