A/n: Pre-warning for the 3rd person narrative part of this chapter contains some sensual content. Also to clarify this first bit is kinda like a narrative which for-tells the ending events of the next chapter in some sense. Imagine it like a voice over spoiler of what's to come before it time skips back to before said events.

Y/n's POV

After Rick told the group of his newfound determination to capture the prison or as he put it at the time the first field, the group and I found ourselves crouched just behind the tree line of the walker infested field surrounding the barbed-wired walkway into the prison.

The plan was to wait for an opportune moment where we'd run across the open field to the barbed-wire fence, where Rick would use the wire cutters to cut open a hole for all of us to filter into the walkway through and then for Glenn to stitch it back together with some orange wire we just do coincidentally had lying around.

From there someone would have to make the run from the gate connecting to the front field filled with walkers all the way to the back gate where the field connected to the prison yard and close off that gate. Then we'd set up a base safely surrounded by walkers.

If you'd asked me at the time I'd express how stupid the plan was. Now... Now I'd tell you I was safely sleeping in a cell on a springy but comfortable bed for the first time in literally a year. I'm not gonna complain about it though, this opportunity was god sent. I was just content to know that I could sleep soundly tonight without worrying about walkers potentially getting in.

Standing behind the treeline out looking the prison, a walker stumbled by while the rest of us stood ready waiting for Rick's signal. A few minutes later, a clearing opened up allowing us the opportune moment to leg it across the open field at Ricks signal. We ran across a small stepping bridge over the river of water just outside the fence before Rick skidded across the ground and began to cut open the fence.

"Watch the backside." I called as two walkers approached.

"Got it." Glenn and Maggie called back as they took down the walkers. The sound of the fence being pulled back alerted us that Rick had successfully pried open a hole in the fence for us.

"Hurry. Hurry!" He barks in a hushed whisper yell as he ushers us onto the walkway. Lori was the first one in given her current state, myself being second to last. Once I was in I held the fence open for Rick before Daryl and I pushed our respective sides together to allow Glenn to rewire the fence.

Walkers closed in growling as Glenn finished tying the wire off. The scent of fresh flesh drew walkers from either side of the fence up close, growling, their hands bashing against the wire accompanied us as we jogged to the gate.

As we ran I began to notice how some of the walkers were wearing regular civilian clothes an indication that it must have been a visiting day when the apocalypse reached their doorstep. Either that or these walkers were from outside which would mean there may be a hole somewhere allowing walkers to filter in which would be dangerous, very dangerous.

Reaching the gate to the inner field that had a guard tower to the left of it, an overturned bus greeted us just beyond the gate as we looked to see the handful of walkers stumbling around. Some were filtering in from the gate up top, others leaving through it and stumbling into the courtyard.

"It's perfect." Rick mutters. "If we can shut that gate, preventing more from filling the yard, we can pick off these walkers. We'll take the field by tonight." Rick declared, the fire of determination never once dwindling. For a moment it was like the old Rick was back.
