When you woke up the next day the third canine female who introduced herself as Mary had come home from a trip to the city just outside Cherryton Academy. She was a cocker spaniel with almost completely black fur. You had only just been able to catch her for some small talk before she went out for a morning run.
You went out to explore the school after getting dressed in your school uniform.
Apparently there were four separate dormitory buildings. The one you had been in was female carnivores. It was alright with you since you were an omnivore and didn't want to stay with the apes who your canine roommates had described as noisy, bullies and selfish.
"Y/N!?" A voice called out. You turned around to see Tem just exiting the male herbivores dormitory building. He looked surprised to see you, but happy nonetheless. He straightened his gray vest as he walked over to you, almost jumping in each step.
"Hey there Tem." You smiled and he stopped a couple feet away from you.
"Your roommates weren't bad I guess?" He asked curiously. It made you happy that he genuinely wanted to know how you were holding up.
"The worst!" You joked. It took him some time to realize you weren't serious about it.
"Oh, that's good." Tem said hesitantly. "Have you gotten a tour of the school yet? You haven't, right?" He asked. It was clear that HE wanted to show you around so you just played along.
"Not yet. How come? Do you want to show me around?" His eyes lighted in excitement. He nodded and gestured to you to follow him.
It wasn't a long tour. Tem just showed you the main building, the library, where the biology day would be and the cafeteria. You and Tem took a break in the cafeteria since breakfast was being served. Most of the students were sitting in groups of species. You couldn't find Julia, Jess or Mary in the crowd so Tem invited you to sit with him and his friends.
Tems group was no exception from the others and you felt a bit out, being with them. The group consisted of the two goats; Els and Zoe, Peach the sheep and Tem's best friend Carl.
Even though they were a great and fun friend group you couldn't see yourself with them. They talked about things they had seen on Beastbook and the other students on Cherryton. Tem was good to get you into the conversations. He almost made you forget the stares from all the other students whenever the two of you talked.
Els was sweet too. Just like Tem she was a member of the drama club. Maybe I should try out the drama club? The people there can't be that bad when these two are members.
"Come on, let's get something to eat." Carl the alpaca said and stood up from his chair. The group followed him, you included.
"So Y/N, what dish will you choose? The herbivore or carnivore meal?" Els looked at you curiously.
"I..." You hadn't realized that this could be a problem. "I don't know, but humans can eat both diets so it doesn't really matter that much."
If I chose the carnivore meal would the others get mad? Or maybe they'd think that I felt more like a carnivore than a herbivore? But I'm an omnivore... I can choose whatever I want, right?
You eyed the herbivores meal appraisingly. Yeah, no thanks. It didn't look very appealing so you just took the carnivore meal instead. As you sat down the group looked at your meal a bit judging, but no one decided to speak up. It was probably for the better.
It was an amazing sight to see all the animals gathered in such a small space. Simply the height difference was distracting from the small fennec foxes at just over a meter to the ginormous bear at two meters in the cafeterias other end. You supposed you laid just in between, maybe a bit over.
