Did it work?

That was the question all three outside of the summoning circle asked themselves while looking at the unchanged Ghoul in front of them, who just glared up at the Cardinal and suddenly snaps at Copia's hand.

Aether jumps forward and quickly pulls the hand past the line, out of reach for the Ghoul.

"Are you okay, Cardina-"

The Quintessence-ghoul asks while looking at Copia but gets interrupted by the Ghoul inside the summoning circle, who lets out a few raspy and strained sounding snarls and clicks.

"What did he say..?"

Copia asks while not looking away from the Ghoul, wanting Aether to translate.

"He said that you're no Emeritus.. and that you can't control or claim him as your Ghoul with a simple binding spell.. since the blood of the old lord does not fully flow through your vains.."

Aether answers in a calm tone, but his voice also carrying a slight hint of worry and fear. Maybe this fear was for the Cardinal's well-being, or even for what the demonic creature is that's standing in front of them.

The Ghoul hisses while getting up from the floor, nearly falling back down onto it due to his body not being used to the different atmosphere on the upside world than in hell.

He keeps his eyes fixated on the three outside of the circle the whole time, his tail swishing over the cold stone floor behind him, making the fluffy white hair on the end of it gather up some dirt and dust.

It was obvious that this Ghoul was a strong individual, his body muscular and healthy looking, especially for a Ghoul that just got pulled out of the depths of hell. And his powers also seem to work just fine.

Something you don't get with every summoning, and definitely something Copia did not want to lose to have as one of his Ghouls.

"Then how-"

The Cardinal starts but gets imidiatly interrupted by Sister Imperator, who steps closer to the circle and glares at the Ghoul.

"You let yourself get claimed or obey to our orders. Or I will send you back to the pit."

She explained bluntly while looking at the Ghoul, who now growls at her, with a cold expression.

"We have no problem with doing it. Sending you right back into the depths of hell where you came from. We can just summon someone new instead."

She adds to make the Ghoul realise that she was not joking or making empty threats. She was dead serious.

And it seems like the creature knew it because after a few seconds of staring at Sister, he bows his head down to her with a slightly annoyed grumble and a few clicks.

"He said that he will obey, but it is unlikely that the Cardinal will be able to claim or control him."

Aether translates while letting go of Copia's hand, which he still holds for some reason, and quickly moves his hands behind his back.

"What are you..?"

Copia, who hasn't taken his eyes off the Ghoul in front of him, asks slightly hesitantly, which earns him a wide grin and an outstretched, forked tongue from the Ghoul inside the circle.

The Cardinal lets out a sigh and looks at Aether, hoping the Quintessence-ghoul has some answers, but he also looks rather confused about the whole thing.

"Are you letting me out now. Or should I slowly rot in here."

The Ghoul asks in a slightly less raspy voice, which makes the Cardinal jump slightly.

So.. he knows how to speak English..

"Put this on."

Sister Imperator quickly instructs while holding a metal Ghoul mask into the circle before Copia or Aether could answer the Ghoul.

He looks at the mask and takes it with a small grumble and a nod before putting it on his face. The second the mask is on his face, the tail and horns disappear, along with the sharp fangs and the ash black skin, which now has a more human like colour. The only thing staying are the pure white eyes of the Ghoul.

He looks down at himself and tilts his head in confusion.

"At least the ugly spots are not there when it is glamoured. That's good."

Sister mutters while looking at the Ghoul, her voice still cold and stern while Copia and Aether both stay quiet and just watch Sister Imperator interact, both, especially the Quintessence-ghoul, knowing better than to interrupt her now.

"Let's get him out of.. that and into a uniform."

She adds while gesturing to the Ghoul, who is only wearing a pair of ripped up pants, and walks over to the circle to blow one of the candles out.

"Whats with the mask?"

The Ghoul asks while inspecting the mask with his hands, not even realising he can leave the circle now due to being focused on the metal on his face. He was fascinated that a simple mask could somehow hide his Ghoul features and make him look human.

"The mask is there so you can walk freely around the clergy without wasting your powers with a masking spell. It also differences us from the siblings of sin, as well as keeps our magical abilities or powers in check, so we dont lash out and use them on any members."

Aether explains while not taking his eyes off the new Ghoul. The demon looks over at the Quintessence-ghoul with interest in his gaze.

"You're a Ghoul too.. Quintessence?"

He asks with a grin while looking Aether up and down. The newcomer seems to have calm down awfully lot, which gives the slightly shorter Ghoul even worse feeling about him, if that is even possible at this point.

"Yes. And you are?"

Aether asks back while squinting his eyes at the new guy, who only answers with putting his finger up to his lips, which still have that stupid grin on them, and winking at the Quintessence-ghoul.

That made Aether just more suspicious as he was about to say more he gets stopped by Sister clearing her throat.

"Let's finally get it into some clothes and continue to ask questions. I don't want some half-naked demonic creature standing in the summoning room longer than it has to."

She hisses while walking out of the room. Copia lets out a sigh and nods his head to Aether who rolls his eyes and puts a hand onto the new Ghoul's back, guiding him out of the summoning room and after Sister Imperator to the dressing room, the two ghouls getting closely followed by Copia, who blew out the last candles and closed the door.

The shorter Ghoul makes sure to keep a close eye on the newbie. The fact that he is still unclaimed and under no ones control, as well as him not giving his element away, makes the Quintessence-ghoul uneasy and a lot more cautious.

An:Chapter 2- I have honestly no idea what I'm doing, and if this is good or not, so bare with me ;-;
Anyway, I hope that chapter two was good, and I will write on chapter 3 soon if I didn't already finish it after I posted this (if so, I will post it tmr-)

And, sorry if I have a few spelling mistakes in here, I have no beta reader, suck at grammar, and English isn't my native language, so I apologise- ;-;
