-𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝒅𝒚𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒚

.....

There you were standing in your doorway, feet firmly planted to keep a livid Felicia from pushing past you and entering your semi-destroyed room.

It felt like your mind was going into shock, on one hand, you were starting to process the weight of what you had done with Miguel, and on the other hand, you were slowly grasping the seriousness of the situation you were in at Alchemax. There was a chance that your sudden uninformed absence from the workplace could lead to you getting fired. Then there was the issue of Felicia panicking that you had a serious uterine condition that had you bleeding and limping for the last three days.

"I'm alright, Fel, it's just the period cramps, I'm fine, really," you mumble, struggling to keep your eyes open from both sleep deprivation and the action of the previous night. There was no way you'd be walking straight for the next few days after all that excitement.

"You have to go to the hospital, muffin, you look like a corpse. You're barely standing upright. I'll book a cab, just sit down," Felicia says as she steadies you by your shoulders, patting your cheeks, her hazel eyes wide with concern. She was such a sweetheart, you felt like a horrible friend for lying to her like that.

The alternative of her knowing about you and Miguel wasn't an option though, so you keep at it, mentally begging for her forgiveness.

You shake your head. "I just need sleep, I swear, it's just the cramps, I take a painkiller and I'll be fine by morning. Just go, Fel, I'll call you in the morning."

"You've never missed work because of your periods before!" Felicia says as she tries to nudge past you and fails. She glares at you, but you refuse to budge. With your enhanced strength, Felicia would have better luck pushing against a wall. She yells your name, urging you to yield to her attempts at helping you.

She tries to push past you one last time, and your spidey senses tingle, alerting you to Miguel's heavy footsteps.

Felicia hears that too, her brows knit together.

"What was that? Is there someone else with you?" she asks, her eyes narrowing in a glare.

"No Fel, there's no one here," you hiss at her as you block her from getting in and seeing Miguel and your ruined apartment.
