The birth of Meghan and Harry's son was what many would have thought to be a joyous celebration for the royals, but in truth, it was a turbulent time. Emily was excited for the baby since they were her husband's first newborn in a way. Yes, her siblings had children, but this one would be coming from his side of the family.

But she didn't expect the news to be released to them the way it was. Yes, they were not in a good place, but a heads-up text would have been appreciated. Instead, they found out about the birth through social media, and even then, they found out about it when on a walkabout, and one of the ladies had informed them of the birth of the new baby, it had been a shock, and it added to the already tense situation. It was a missed opportunity for Meghan and Harry to extend an olive branch and try to mend their strained relationship with the Cambridges. By not personally sharing the news of their baby's birth, Meghan and Harry missed a chance to show goodwill and bridge the gap between them and the Cambridges, and in Emily's opinion it did not really matter how she learned of the birth as long as the baby and mother were okay, everything as good.

This lack of communication only further intensified the already strained relationship between the two couples. It would have been a small gesture that could have potentially eased tensions and allowed for a fresh start. But now that the rest of the world had found out before them it left some salty feeling in the air, if it were someone like Zara or even Beatrice, they wouldn't have minded finding out through word of mouth, but Harry should have told them before releasing the statement, but in truth, Emily and William had anticipated something like that happening; that's why they had a statement already in place.

They understood the magnitude of the situation and recognized the need for transparency. However, despite their preparedness, the unexpected public announcement still left a lingering sense of disappointment and missed the opportunity for a more personal conversation between the two couples. They hoped that moving forward, open communication would be prioritised to prevent any further misunderstandings or hurt feelings, and they knew this meant the relationship they hoped their children would have was already a fading dream.

The drive to Windsor was tense between the two not because they were fighting but because they did not know how to act around the two. Thankfully other members of the immediate family would be there along with Meghan's mother Doria.

When they arrived in Windsor they were immediately led to Harry and Meghan's room, they had passed by a hall where they heard commotion and what Emily though was camera shutters go off but she ignored it thinking maybe it was a group of tourist.

"Your majesty," Emily said doing a curtsy before standing to kiss her cheeks, then moving on and doing the same with Philip and greeting Charles and Doria with cheek kisses, Camilla as expected was not invited to the gathering which Emily thought was understandable.

"This is your first grandchild, I'm sure you're very excited," Emily said as she took a seat near Doria.

"Very, I can't wait to spoil my grandbaby,"
