Elvira
Darkness. Everything was dark. Whatever I was lying on was cold and moist, and my body felt just as equally cold. My limbs felt extremely numb, almost like they were on the verge of falling off. There was this strong, earthy smell tickling my nose, almost making me want to sneeze.
"Grr," a stippling pain ran through my neck and I hissed.
I gradually peeled my eyes open, and what greeted me at first was a blur of green, but when I let my eyes refocus, I soon realized I was lying on a bed of grass. With my senses on sudden high alert, I instinctively sprang to my feet in urgency. The sudden movement caused me to feel lightheaded and I staggered.
Clutching my head, I took a moment to allow myself some stabilization and to let my head adjust. After I felt well enough, I slowly raised my head to take in my environment. I was in a forest full of enormous trees that stretched toward the sky and pierced the clouds. The trees canopied over the forest; casting a heavy shade and barely giving leeway to a few rays of light willing to peek into this intriguing forest.
I didn't need to think about where I was, I just instinctively knew...I was in Forest Nhana.
From the chill air and warm rays, I could tell it was morning time. Does that mean I slept here all through the night? But why was I here in the first place? Has anyone noticed I'm missing by now? If they have, they are probably so worried, especially Adelio.
Thats right! It felt like something was controlling me, and I lost consciousness. Does that mean that someone or something dragged me here?
The thought sent a chill down my spine and I immediately spun around to search my environment. However, my fear was easily debunked as I neither saw nor sensed anyone around me. Yet, I felt the same eerie feeling I felt when we passed through here yesterday. Like the whole forest was watching me like something was watching me.
Then I heard a flap behind me, and I instantly reeled around. A blur of white was rushing at me from the sky. I stared at it for several long seconds, before realizing what it was...it was the phoenix from yesterday!
Its flaps were slow and rhythmic, but its speed was the opposite. With one last graceful flap of its wings, it landed on a fallen tree branch in front of me. It was still and unmoving, as its blood-red eyes peered at me as if studying my very being.
I don't know much about phoenixes so I don't know if they were dangerous, but for now, it was safer to walk away from it. So I started to retreat slowly; my back to the forest, and my eyes trained on the phoenix.
"You...how did you answer my summons child," a sudden voice echoed in my head—interrupting my escape—and I instantly halted.
"What? Who...?" My eyes hurriedly scanned my environment, looking for any signs of someone else in this forest.
"Where are you looking child, I'm right in front of you," the voice spoke again. It was breezy and feminine, with an air of elegance in it.
I snapped my eyes back to the phoenix in front of me. "Uh, Did you just speak to me?" I asked hesitantly.
"Who else would speak to you? There's no one else here but you and I." The phoenix cocked its head.
I gaped at the phoenix; mouth opened and eyes wide with astonishment. "It speaks...a phoenix is speaking to me..."
The phoenix ignored my shock as it ruffled its feathers and cocked its head in the other direction. "I subconsciously sent out my calls and you answered. How is that possible?"
Okay, Elvira. We are in Caelestis, the land of the supernatural. It's definitely not so strange that a phoenix is speaking.
"Summons...?" I tried out my words.
