Giyu Tomioka

"Hey Giyu! How's work?" Tsutako asked as I walked around my apartment complex. I wanted to take a walk, even though it was freezing in the Minnesota air.

It was six in the morning, and I always needed a walk before work to clear my mind.

"Good. Just stared, already getting paid a lot." I muttered.

"Good! I haven't seen you and Daki in a while. I'm coming over today! Hope you and Daki are doing okay!" Tsutako said brightly. Wait, she was coming over today? I started to panick, thinking as fast as I could.

"Um...also, Daki and I have broken up. We decided that we just aren't meant for each other." I lied.

"What?!?! I'm-well...you deserved better than her anyway. When did you break up?" She asked. It was like she was interrogating me.

"Oh, a month ago." I lied again.

"Giyu-"

"I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to worry." I said reassuringly. "I do have a girlfriend. Her name's Shinobu Kocho, she's a nurse practitioner at the local hospital we work at together, and she works for me." I said.

"She already sounds better than Daki-no offense to her. Can't wait to meet her! I might come over early just to see. Has she moved in?" Tsutako asked.

"Erm, no. We just started dating." I said nervously.

"Okay then! See you tonight!" Then she hung up.

Urgently, I called Shinobu.

"Why the hell are you calling me so early in the morning?" She asked groggily as she picked up.

"Urgent. My sister is coming today, and she wants to meet you." I said frantically.

"I'm all ears. What do I do?" Shinobu said, her voice perking up.

"I really hope you aren't covered in ears. You might as well be an alien."

"It was figurative language Giyu. Even children can figure it out."

"It was just a joke."

"You need to improve your jokes. We'll have to work on that too. I have a list of those on my phone."

"I don't know why I'm doing this." Shinobu grumbled as I pulled into my apartment complex. Right after work, we had gotten a few things from her apartment, and then I drove back here as fast as I could. Tsutako could come at any minute.

"I can cook a few things." I said, excited to show off my culinary skills.

"Sure. I'll just change and then I can come help." She said. We exited the car and sprinted into my apartment. Shinobu went into the bathroom to change. Before she did, she pulled out two dresses from her bag.

"These are my favorite dresses. Which one looks better?" Shinobu asked, holding a light purple and dark purple one.

"The light purple one." I said hurridly. I pulled out the ingredients, and started cooking.

After around an hour, Tsutako still hadn't shown up and Shinobu was still in the bathroom. I was wondering if Tsutako was lying.

Then, Shinobu came out and holy shit, she was even prettier than anyone I had ever seen. The dress fit perfectly on her-and she was wearing dark purple. Of course.

I also couldn't stop staring like a pervert.

"Holy crap." I said, staring.

"Stop gaping at me and pretend you've seen me like this before. Also, make sure the noodles don't get burnt on the bottom." Shinobu said.

"I might also mention you're wearing the dark purple dress." I said.

"I don't trust your judgement on dresses. Besides, I was feeling more for dark purple today." Shinobu said. "I'll make whatever I can. Something that you have in the fridge."

I nodded.

While we were cooking, I felt Shinobu's presence next to me and smelled a light aroma of lavender.

Unlike me to be distracted by such futile things, but I still did.

What was wrong with me?

After ten minutes, huge piles of food were piled on the table.

The doorbell rang. We looked at each other anxiously.

"Just act calm." Shinobu said, as we opened the door.

"Hi! Nice to meet you Shinobu!" Tsutako said brightly.

"Come in!" I said.

"I can help you with your bags!" Shinobu said kindly.

"No need." Tsutako said and she set her things next to the coat rack.

"I'd better get back to the stew. Sorry, I didn't have enough time to finish preparing everything." Shinobu said, hurrying back to the kitchen.

"She's super pretty, nice, can cook, and knows how to set up the dinner table properly, unlike you Giyu. You've really hit the jackpot here Giyu." Tsutako whispered.

"How do you know how to set up the dinnere table properly?" I asked.

"Everyone should." Tsutako replied.

I guess I'm not everyone.

We all sat at the dinner table, eating our food quietly.

"So Shinobu. When did you meet Giyu?" Tsutako asked.

"A month ago," Shinobu started, making me glad I had told her about that. "We met at the park a few blocks down from here. I was having a bad day, and Giyu crashed his ca-I mean, bicycle into the lightpost next to me." She said. Tsutako nodded.

"Obviously because I needed him to know the importance of medical bills, I started talking to him. We just grew closer and went from there." Tsutako giggled at the mention.

It sounded so legit.

"I'm glad Giyu has found someone as amazing as me." Tsutako said.

"Oh no, he's the special one here." Shinobu said with a wave of her hand. "I've never seen someone so special and talented as him."

I knew she was just talking lies, but it felt...real when she said it.

"What happened to the bike?" Tsutako said.

"We tossed it out, obviously. I mean, that bike can pose as so many different medical risks! You don't wanna see what happened to it." Shinobu said.

"You've got someone special." Tsutako said.

I knew that. We just weren't actually dating.

The rest of the night we talked at ease, Tsutako extremely pleased with Shinobu.

"Thank you for having me over! And sorry fro the short notice." She said.

"No prob! Come anytime!" Shinobu and I said.

"When is Shinobu moving in?" Tsutako asked, and Shinobu overheard us. Her face flushed a maroon color.

"Not here!" I muttered, pushing her out the door.

I took a deep breath.

It was eight.

"You'd better get home. Tomorrow's gonna be a big day." I said. "Oh yeah, I need to drive you there."

"Yup." She said.

We exchanged a high five, managing to avoid a huge disaster.

I did it! I finished another chapter! I hope y'all are satisfied. I hate life rn. Thank the skies that I don't have school on Monday.
