With a sigh, I tossed my bag onto the other side of my bed and took off my wristwatch, placing it next to my phone. Today had been an unexpectedly exhausting first day of college. Sitting on my bed, I reflected on my day, and one thought stood out: "HER." She was the most stunning girl I had ever seen, like an angel descended from heaven. Her sweet smile melted my heart, and when she glanced up through her long lashes, I was captivated by her beautiful honey-colored eyes, which left me momentarily breathless. When she touched my hand, a strange sensation scoured through my body—something I had never felt before!

I was incredibly nervous around her, and I couldn’t pinpoint why. I found myself grinning like a fool, caught up in thoughts of her enchanting face. To distract myself, I grabbed my phone and noticed a missed call from Vikas, so I called him back.

“Hmm, do you actually remember me?” he mocked.

“Of course, I just forgot to call yesterday. What’s up?” I replied, chuckling.

“It’s going okay, but sometimes I feel a bit lonely…” he admitted, his voice sounding a little off. Then he shifted the topic, and said, “What about her?”

“Who?” I asked, confused.

“Don’t pretend like you don’t know. I’m talking about the girl from college!” he laughed.

“There’s no girl, what are you talking about?” I stammered shyly.

“Oh, I know you’re lying. I can hear you blushing!” he teased, as I stepped onto the balcony.

“Okay, okay, her name is Vidhi. I met her today, and she’s the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen!” I said softly, gazing up at the bright moon.

“Oh wow! LOVE at first sight?” he mocked, laughing.

“Shut up! I don’t love her; there’s no such thing as love at first sight! I just really liked her!” I asserted, tapping the balcony railing as a cool breeze brushed against my face.

“So you liked her just from a glance, huh? Interesting!” he chuckled.

“Don’t laugh, you idiot!” I retorted, just as I heard my mom calling me, “Ishu, dinner is ready! Come downstairs!”

“Yeah, Mom!”

“Relax, I’m just joking,” he giggled.

“I’ll talk to you later!” I said and ended the call; he could be so ridiculous sometimes. But what if I have a crush on her? No... I had been friends with girls before, but she was different. Just one look had completely mesmerized me!

I joined my dad at the dinner table, and he glanced at me, asking, “How was your day? Did you study well and make any friends?”

“Yeah, Dad, I studied well and made some friends: Aman, Rahul, Preeti, Khushi, and Vidhi,” I said, taking a sip of water.

“That’s great,” my mom chimed in while serving the food. After a moment, I added, “Mom, Dad, tomorrow is our Freshers party, and my partner is Vidhi Patel!” Dad nodded in acknowledgment.

“Tell Vidhi I said hi. I want to meet her. Invite her over for dinner sometime!” Mom smiled.

“Absolutely, Mom!” I replied. After dinner and some light conversation with my parents, I returned to my room, laid on my bed, and scrolled through my phone. That’s when I received a message from Vidhi; we had exchanged numbers earlier.

“Come to my house at five-thirty. I’ve sent you my address. See you soon—take care!” An unexpected smile spread across my face as I read 'take care.'
