chapter 3: Misconception

Crap. Crap. Crap.

This was the worst situation she's ever been in. Sayaka knew she had to say no but as she stared into captivating orbs, she had trouble finding her words.

"I-um... Well, you see... ahh..."

A silver eyebrow rose in question. "Well?"

Sayaka's head was filled with turbulent thoughts. What is she going to do? Will she accept the President's offer? It would be a week long trip with just the two of them. But what about Midari? Sure Midari could probably handle herself but that doesn't mean she won't get in trouble. She'd choose a week with the President over a week with Midari any day. The Warped Tour was ending. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity but so is vacationing with the President. She already told Midari they were going and everything was prepared. All that time and effort spent planning would go to waste.

She hated to do this.

"I-I'm sorry, President," she stammered. "I c-can't. I already have p-plans."

Sayaka couldn't meet the President's eyes. She kept her head bowed. I just rejected the President!

Kirari was shocked. This was unexpected to say the least. She quickly regained her composure before her Secretary could notice.

"Is that so?" she questioned cryptically. She began to advance on the shorter girl. "And what, may I ask, are these plans of yours, hmm?"

Sayaka backed up as she got closer. A pair of arms trapped her against the wall, their bodies only a few inches apart. Sayaka closed her eyes tightly. She inhaled the light aroma of citrus fruits. It reminded her of the fresh oranges her mother used to give her after school. A knee was pressed between her legs. It was like that night in the lilies, only this time they were vertical. She felt fingers dancing across her arm, making their way to her shoulder. It sent shivers down her spine.

"Sayaka..." she heard right next to her ear.

She felt soft lips lightly graze it. She was barely breathing at this point but her heart raced frantically.

"I...um... h-have plans... w-with, uh, M-Midari," she struggled to say.

Kirari abruptly pulled away and looked at her flushed and confused Secretary.

She hummed. "That's too bad."

She reentered the Council Room and left Sayaka standing outside. The change in attitude caught her completely off guard. She stood there for a few seconds before going back in. It was almost time to go home. Midari was still waiting, holding the list, and the rest of the Council was leaving for the day. Sayaka observed the President who was staring out the window.

"Oi, Sayaka," Midari called. "Ready to go?"

She snapped out of it and nodded. She began to collect her things.

Midari lowered her voice. "So what happened? Did you guys fuck in the bathroom or something?"

Sayaka turned beet red. "What?! No! Why would you even think that?" She whispered.

"You were out there for a while and came back all red. I thought you guys finally did it."

"I will tase you," Sayaka threatened.

Midari's eyes lit up. "Would you really?"

"No, now stop it."

Midari was left standing by the doors as Sayaka approached the President.

"Do you need anything else, President?" she asked.

"No, that will be all, Sayaka."

"Alright. Have a good day."

"You as well."

When the doors closed behind the pair, Kirari didn't move. The only occupants in the room now were her and Ririka. She continued to look out the window. Ririka came up next to her and took off the mask.
