Logan's POV-

In December, I finally told my parents that Rory and I were engaged and they insisted on having dinner with her. They wanted to meet Tori too.

So one Saturday night we found ourselves in the car on the way to my parents house. Honor, Josh and the kids would be there too, but Rory's seen them a bunch of times since we got together, and Tori's met them. My parents in the other hand haven't seen Rory in 11 years.

"They weren't mad when you told them, right?" Rory asked

"They were happy" I told her. There was a time when my parents didn't like Rory, but they seemed to have a different opinion this time around.

"Are you sure?"

I put my hand on her leg. "It'll be fine. They're excited for this actually"

"Mommy" Tori said

"Yes, my love" Rory said

"Mommy"

"What?" Rory asked

"Mommy"

I laughed a little.

"What do you need, Tori?" Rory asked

"Nana"

"I don't have a banana. I have goldfish. Do you want goldfish?"

"Yeah"

Rory always brought a snack for Tori when we drove to Hartford or Stars Hollow. 2 hours is a long time for a 2 year old to sit in the car, and I guess a snack makes it easier.

When we got to my parents house, Honor opened the door. We followed her to the living room and greeted everyone before sitting down. Rory put Tori on her lap.

We were having a nice, normal conversation until my mom asked what might've been the worst possible question she could ask.

"Why is your ex-husband in prison" my mother asked.

"Um..." Rory glanced over at me. "What?"

"Your ex-husband is Nathaniel Robinson, right?"

"Mom stop"

"How do you even know that?" Honor asked

"I have connections" mom said. "My son tells me he plans to adopt this child, I just wanted to know what I could about her. Imagine my surprise when I find that her father's in prison"

"That's so not ok" I said. I felt so bad that my mother was basically forcing Rory to tell everyone her very personal story.

"That's like some creepy stalker shit" Honor said

"It's ok" Rory said. "I uh...I married a really sweet guy, who turned out to be an abusive asshole, and now he's in prison"

The room got really quiet.

"Sorry" Rory said. I don't know why she apologized. I think she was probably a little uncomfortable.

"No, don't be" mom said. "I shouldn't have asked"

"It's ok"

Rory's POV-

I was watching all my students file into the classroom and noticed Gracie. It had been almost 2 months since I made the report to cps and Gracie hadn't been at school since. She came straight over to me and hugged me.

"Are you ok?" I asked her

"Yeah" she said. It might've been the first time I saw her smiling.

"Good. Welcome back"
