LEXA POV
No. No. This can't be happening. Clarke's the CEO of Grounders Inc? Why haven't I known this? Anya and Luna was talking to me but I was too stunned and frozen to speak. I wanted to leave. I have to leave. Clarke can't know that I am here, that I am Lexa Woods.
Anya: Hey, Lexa. Are you okay?
Me: I-uh. Yeah.
Anya wanted to ask something again when Clarke started her speech. Everyone was quiet and sat down in their seats. I had no choice but to sit down since Luna basically pulled me down to sit. I'll leave as soon after Clarke ends her speech.
Clarke was starting to discuss about the history of Grounders Inc. It was the first time I'm hearing about this so I kind of listened. And I kind-of love hearing here voice. It was full of passion.
Clarke: Not all of you know how I became the CEO of Grounders. A few years ago, I was just a regular girl with big hopes and dreams. I tried every job I could think of just to be able to eat and move on to another day. Three years ago, my dad passed away. I was so devastated. My family's broken. But then, my father always told me that if a door closes, a window opens. This was that moment. My dad passing was the door closing. But my grandmother Becca Griffin was the window opening. I have all of this because of my grandma. So I dedicate tonight to her. Grandma B, thank you for pulling me out and making me who I am today. I love you
I shed a tear hearing Clarke's story. Raven and Octavia was able to see me wipe my tears and they comforted me.
Me: I'm okay.
Raven: That's not the whole story.
Me: Oh yea? Why's that.
Octavia: Clarke's dad actually left Grandma Becca. He totally disowned his whole family to be with Clarke and Abby. He said he didn't want this life to be a part of this family.
Luna: What do you mean?
Raven: It's not all fun and games now that Clarke's the CEO. Yes she has all the money and all the power. But she's also drained. She's tired and she's so close to giving up. At first, Clarke enjoyed it because it's the first time she won't worry about money.
Octavia: But time passed by and she realized what her dad meant. This was not the life he wanted, and Clarke does not want it too.
Me: Then why is she still staying if she doesn't want it?
Raven: Because a lot of people are depending on her. You know the background of Grounders. Thousands of people work here. If she gives up, thousands of people will lose their jobs. No one is the next of kin in the Griffin household. Only Clarke.
Anya: Poor Clarke. I didn't know she was going through something like this.
Octavia: That's why we're here for her. As much as it hurts seeing our best friend lose her life because of work, all we can do is help her and at least give her life a little life, even if it means just teasing her or facetime-ing her.
Me: I'm glad she has you guys.
Raven: I just hope she lets herself be happy this time. I mean, she can continue leading Grounders Inc, but at the same time give herself a chance to breathe and have fun, find love even.
I look at Clarke with sad eyes. So everything she told me was true. A lot of people are depending on her. And I can't believe that I lied to her. It's the first time she lets herself happy, to me, and yet I just lied to her.
