{OKAY guys please read this in the dark ANDDD THE MUSIC IS ESSENTIAL THIS TIME}
"I made breakfast," he announces, "pancakes with strawberries and powdered sugar."
He smiles at me- one that I know I would miss.
He opens the door wider when he notices me getting up to follow him down for food.I smile at the sight of the dished plate waiting for me on the table.
"Where's the kitchen?" I ask.
He points his finger towards the direction, making me follow it instantly. I search around for utensils, pulling out a fork before heading to the dining room again.
On my way out, I notice a bin with stashes of burnt pancakes in it, suggesting the amount of tries he must've attempted to master the dish for me."I already got you a fork-"
I hand him the fork, "It's for you."
I sit down on the chair, picking up the fork that was already set there for me. I look at Tom, waiting for him to sit down next to me so we could both enjoy this together.
"Let's eat," I encourage before stabbing the fork into the soft, fluffy pancakes."I want to take you somewhere before I sent you home." Tom says, grabbing a mouthful of pancakes, "I'll show you once we're done though."
-
We both put our forks down, soon followed by someone coming to take our plates away.
"Come," Tom turns to me, "We're going out for a bit."He takes me to the car, making sure I buckle myself in before getting in the drivers side.
He starts the engine before heading off.
-
It wasn't a long drive, it was only a couple of minutes.
"Close your eyes." Tom gestures.
I smile before closing my eyes shut, even when I had the urge to peak.
The car halts and Tom leaves the car. I hear his footsteps trailing to my side before opening the car door and helping me out.
"Open your eyes." He says.
I flutter my eyes open, seeing the amazing view that seemed like it would've only existed in fairytales."It's.. amazing.." I gasp, my eyes scanning the fields of colourful flowers and roses that were filled everywhere.
"Let's gather some flowers," Tom says.
"What are we going to do with them?" I ask.
"I'll show you after," he smiles, making his way over before picking away at the beautiful plants.
I head over to a patch of roses mixed with hints of light and dark pink shades. Tiny white and blue butterflies flutter around me as I pluck the roses out of the ground, collecting them together in my hand before walking over back to Tom who seemed to have bundled different flowers.
"Here," he says, "mix them up a bit."
I take what was in his hands before combining both the roses, tulips, and white orchids.
"What do we do with them?" I ask, grasping onto the bouquet.
He holds my hand with his, leading me back to the car without a word.
"Let me show you."
-
I buckle my seat in before Tom starts the engine, turning on the radio to relax the mood even more.
"Where are we going?" I ask, looking over at Tom.
He lowers the volume of the radio so he could hear me better, "You'll see."
My eyes fixates on the window, a hint of familiarity as we drive along the roads. The car comes to a halt, and stopping in front of a wrecked place.
The building was completely crumbled to the ground now, with no structure remaining or anything. If you were to look at it, you wouldn't have known that this was a home once. But then I ask myself again, was it ever?
"Let's go," Tom says, pressing his hand on my back as we walk closer to it.
We stop just inches away from the collapse, before I crouch down, placing the bouquet of hand picked flowers on the ground. This was for remembrance. Remembrance of the three angelic souls that have been lost.
I'll never forget you, I'll cherish you with all my heart.
I'll see when I look up at the midnight sky, whilst you're shining bright as ever.Tom stares blankly ahead, but it was still obvious that he was grieving tremendously.
He notices something under a pile of bricks, walking towards it before picking it up. He uses his sleeve to wipe away the dust, revealing a burnt picture frame.. but with a photo inside.
He stares at it for too long, a memorable smile filling his face as his eyes begins to water.
I head over to him, trying to see what the picture was of.
It was of Georg, Bill, Tom, and Gustav. All standing in a staircase looking ahead at the camera.
"This is the only photo we took together when we were young." Tom mutters. This was the photo Georg wanted to show me for a long time.
"I'll make sure to show you this one photo of us four when we were younger."
"Georg wanted to show me this.." I smile, admiring the cute photo.
He lets out a sniffle and I soon realise his eyes becoming glossy and watery.
"You want to cry on me again?" I comfort reassuringly, making sure he knew it was okay to let it all out.
He presses his face on my shoulder immediately, his tears melting through my clothes.
I don't know how long we stayed in that same position for, but I didn't mind.
-We were now back home and it was pretty much almost midnight by now.
I help Tom packing the last boxes in the car, slamming the trunk shut.
I walk around to the passenger seat for the first time, reaching for the handle until Tom opens it for me instead, allowing me to sit down.
"Thank you," I mutter, taking my seat and buckling my seatbelt.
It was late at night since we spent the whole day packing away, and the sky twinkled more brighter than usual. If anyone were to tell me a couple months ago that Tom and I would be at peace with one another, I would laugh it off and say that we weren't meant to be at all. It's funny how the least unexpected things end up changing your life completely.
Tom starts the engine before driving the car away. My heart raced.. but was it because of peace or sorrow?
-
Around 1 hour in, I decided to turn on the car radio, allowing the mixed songs blast in the car.
He turns the volume up, letting out a small smile.
"Your favourite song." He remembers."You remember that from stalking me, right?" I joke around, trying to lift up the sad atmosphere.
I let out a deep sigh before leaning my head back against the seat, glueing my eyes onto the window whilst watching the repetitive roads zoom past.He slows the car down, "Lets take a break." He says before parking into a grassy area, "Come on." He encourages, opening the door and gesturing for me to do the same.
We both get out, walking over to the grass before sitting down on it.
"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" He asks.
I nod in reply, "Very."
There it was again, the same bright moon that was watching us as our life progressed. I couldn't help but think about Maya, Bill, and Georg- how they'd be looking down at us happily.I didn't notice Tom standing back up from the ground because of how intrigued I was with the view that overlooked the glistening sea and memorable sky. He sticks his hand out in front of me, "Dance with me."
"What, now..?" I ask, chuckling before taking his hand and pulling myself up.
He supports one hand around my waist, pulling me into him with another hand clasping around my own.
I go along with it, wrapping my other hand around his shoulder.
We could hear the music still pouring out of the car, bringing such atmosphere to us.We move our legs along with the soothing music, moving our body in synch as well.
He unclasps my hand, using both his hands to lift me up by my waist to gently spin me around in the air. We both let out a chuckle before he grabs my hand again. We continue to dance slow and elegantly- Tom giving me a few twirls now and then.
I could feel the music coming to an end, making me rest my head on his chest as we continue dancing with our hands clasped together.
His soft heart beats were like a lullaby to my ears; soothing and comforting. And then his eyes. Dark and chocolate brown, warm and beautiful and loving, smile as bright as the moon and as full as love.
For us.
Because of us.I didn't want this moment to end but I knew it had to.
I close my eyes, enduring the last of what we had left.
He kisses my forehead, leaving a permanent stain before resting his chin on the top of my head, bringing my body even more closer to him. This was for the best of us.
"Was held in chains but now I'm free."
