A/N - This chapter was inspired by the song Animals by Nickleback. In this one, reader is Hopper's daughter. I hope you all enjoy it.
Eddie hadn't even managed to get the van to a complete stop when you had pulled open the door, pulling yourself up into the seat as quickly as you possibly could.
"In a rush, Sweetheart?" he hummed, a teasing smile pulling at the corner of his lips, letting the van idle at the side of the road.
"Ed-"
"Come on, Baby, where are we hurrying off to?" he pressed, clearly enjoying his teasing a little more than you were.
You rolled your eyes, biting back a smile. "I'll get out," you warned, raising an eyebrow as if you were begging him to test you further. "I'll go straight back into the house," you added, watching as his lips twitched at your threat. You both knew it wasn't even slightly true. There wasn't a hope in Hell that you would miss out on a night in the Van with Eddie.
"Alright, Sweetheart," he breathed softly, putting the van in gear and pulling back onto the road, heading out of your neighbourhood. "Off we go," he pressed grinning when you shuffled further along the front bench of the van, finding your regular spot.
Eddie has always loved driving around late at night, finding somewhere off the beaten track to sit with his music playing and no one to interrupt him. And then, when he'd met you, he'd decided that maybe being interrupted wasn't all too bad. He hadn't gone on one of his nighttime drives without you sitting at his side since.
"Where are headed tonight?" you hummed, relaxing just enough to let your hand stray over to Eddie's thigh, settling it gently against the denim and watching his smile grow slightly.
"Guess," he demanded softly, his eyes straying away from the road for just a second to find you already watching him, with so much adoration in your gaze that it caught him off guard slightly. Sure, he knew you loved him, you said it all the time, but there was no doubting that you meant it when he saw how you looked at him.
"Lover's Lake?" you started, biting down on your bottom lip. There was nothing you enjoyed more than a little bit of healthy competition, and these little guessing games that Eddie played with you always left you a little giddy.
"Oh Baby, on a weekend? The place'll be teaming with horny teenagers," he chastised lightly, his lips quirked up in the corners as you let out a soft chuckle.
"Exactly," you snorted. "You'll fit right in," you added.
Eddie snorted at your comment, his hand dropping to rest over yours, still resting on his thigh, your fingers digging into the denim of his jeans. "Yeah, because I'm the one who can't keep their hands to themselves, aren't I?" he chuckled. "Come on, we're not going to Lover's Lake, guess again."
You let out a soft hum of concentration, your brows furrowed as you searched for another answer. Eddie was right, on a weekend in the middle of summer, all the most well-known spots would already be packed out with other kids looking for somewhere to make out. "What about-" you paused for a moment, a small smile pulling at your lips as you found your answer. "Lake Jordan?"
"They cordoned off the parking lot down there the other week," Eddie corrected. "Think they're planning on building a factory or something," he added. "Guess again."
You peered out the window for a moment, trying to work out what direction you were heading in before letting out a soft gasp. "Are we going to Reefer Rick's place?"
"Ding ding ding," Eddie sang, drawing another soft snort of laughter out of you. "We have a winner, ladies and gentlemen," he pressed on.
"Thought he got out a couple of months back," you interjected.
