✧.* season two, episode fourteen/fifteen (i'm not ready for this and trust me neither are you)
(ꜰᴇʙʀᴜᴀʀʏ 2007. )
"Hello?" (y/n) had eyed her cell phone dubiously before answering. It wasn't a number that she recognized, and after being so careful with her contact information for so long, the idea of an 'unknown' made her uneasy.
"Hi!" A cheerful woman on the other end greeted, with a voice she immediately grinned at.
"Hey, Penelope! How are you?"
Garcia giggled on the other end of the phone, but it was hushed - like she was trying to be quiet.
"Listen, honey, I am doing great but-" she took a deep breath. "the team wants to go out tonight, and I think you should come with us! The good doctor never comes out to party, but I think if I invite you as a surprise, he'll give up that whole "antisocial" act."
(y/n) pursed her lips. Going out most definitely was not her scene, and it hadn't been for years. The little voice she kept tucked away in her mind had other plans though, and before she even knew what she was agreeing to, she said yes.
"That sounds like so much fun," she couldn't hide her excitement. Neither, it seemed, could Spencer's colleague.
"Yay! Okay, I'll text you the address and time away! Oh, and (y/n)?"
"Yes?"
"Make sure you dress cute!" Shaking her head, (y/n) hung up the phone. She had just the thing.
The bar was ridiculously loud, but (y/n) wasn't sure what she was expecting. She walked in the front door and was immediately greeted with bass thumping so hard she felt it in her bones, the smell of beer, and Penelope's face.
"Whoa, hello," she chuckled, but it was too late. The blonde woman grabbed her wrist like a viper, practically threw a fruity cocktail into her hand, and swept her into their life.
"Where's Spencer?" (y/n) called over the music blaring while Penelope led her through the masses of dancing bodies towards Hotch and two other women at a table.
"Off playing a drinking game!" Garcia called over her shoulder, before taking a seat. (y/n) smiled politely at a dark-haired woman, who she presumed was Emily.
"Oh-ho-ho!" The brunette pointed at her, her other hand wrapped around a pint of beer "Are you Spencer's girlfriend?"
(y/n) was glad the lights were so sporadic, otherwise her cheeks would've been a dead giveaway. She nodded, extending a hand.
"(y/n)," she introduced herself, shaking her new friend's hand. "You're Emily?"
"The newest member of our family," Hotch added, sporting an uncharacteristic grin. He was sitting beside a gorgeous blonde woman, their hands intertwined.
"I'm Haley!" His wife waved, while the unity chief stared at her in such admiration it made (y/n)'s heart hurt.
She was just about to look around for Spencer, when Penelope grabbed her shoulder and spun her around so they were face-to-face. Then, her eyes travelled up and down (y/n)'s figure. She raised an eyebrow, but the woman grinned.
"I tell her to dress cute, and she does! Wonderful," she snatched her coat and threw it onto an empty chair beside her. "Now, last time I saw your beloved boy wonder, he was at a table over-" she craned her neck to look over "-there."
(y/n) flashed her a smile before grabbing her drink, a chunk of pineapple floating to the top.
"Thanks! See ya!"
