"Na, please, you have been sitting here all day. I want to play too," her brother whined, trying to pry the girl from her seat right in front of the gaming computer. After a few more attempts, the younger plopped down onto his bed, tired of the failed attempts to make his sister budge.
Yoonna ignored his protests and continued to play with the codes and the games on and off. Her mind was full of regrets of the past as she drowned herself with it. Eyes void of emotions as she stared onto the screen, muting the world while she fell into her own pit of darkness.
Yooncheol sighed sadly, already understood why she was being all sulky and refused to leave her seat but he was also concerned for her health. She hasn't got out of her room for the past few weeks except for going out to get groceries.
"Jie, if you continue being all sulky there's no way you can beat their ass without falling sick," Yooncheol switched to Mandarin as soon as he noticed she finished another round of the game on her computer. Yoonna glared at him, throwing a pen towards him which he dodged swiftly.
"Don't try to use your Mandarin to fight with me because I won't hesitate to snap your neck," she threatened and stared back onto her computer.
Yooncheol didn't have any choice so he let her be, leaving her room, not before commenting on how she should apply for the companies, earning another pen shooting towards him. He quickly scattered away from her room.
Yoonna let out a frustrated sigh after her brother left her alone in her room. It has been weeks after she was kicked out of her team and gotten a part time job, but her mental state wasn't improving.
She felt like shit, and the encounter at the café officially broke her last string that was holding her mental together. Hendery had been trying to reach her, asking if she was good since she took a leave after that day, which obviously had made Kun worried and had called her to ensure she was alright and whether he needs to beat anyone's ass up.
He reminds me of Shohei-san, a pillar I can lean on.
I should go for work, she thought, feeling guilty that she just left Hendery to manage the café all by himself for the past three days.
Stretching her numbed limbs, she pulled on a grey hoodie and finally stepped out of her room again. Yoonsu had already prepared her meal and was standing outside of her door.
"You finally come out," Yoonsu smiled. "I had a feeling you might want to go out today and clear your mind, so I prepared your dinner earlier. Eat it first and remember to wear your sneakers, it's cold at night."
As usual, she could read me.
Yoonna nodded wordlessly and followed her to the kitchen, getting her plate of fried rice and dug into it. She finished in a few minutes, telling Yoonsu she will be heading out, to which the older replied with a 'stay safe and don't get a cold'.
She slowly dragged her feet towards the direction of the internet café, silently standing outside of the café and observing the place. She spotted a new unfamiliar face behind the counter with Hendery, chatting away and once in a while the boy would smack him as he laughed.
"Why are you standing outside here in the dark? It's cold," she jolted at the voice behind her and turned around. Kun was worriedly smiling down at her, his hands full with plastic bags.
Yoonna shook her head, pushing the door open and offered to help Kun with the bags, to which he politely thanked her. Their arrival had Hendery and the boy with him glanced up at them, smiling when they recognised Kun.
"Hello, Kun hyung." The boy greeted with a grin.
"Kun ge, you are back." Hendery smiled, his smile went wider when he saw Yoonna beside Kun. "You too Yoonna, are you feeling better?"
Yoonna nodded slightly, passing the bag to the boy who insisted on helping. She slipped into the staff room, putting away her scarf and pinned her name tag on her hoodie.
She exited the staff room, immediately going behind the cashier to clean the mess that was made. A few orders were given to her and she proceeded to complete them. The café suddenly had more customers arriving, causing Hendery to temporarily shut his mouth up and attend to the customers.
Maybe he could ask the next time they are free.
