Chapter Twenty-Eight: Shopping Mall Shenanigans

“Everyone…I’m looking forward…to hearing your stories…about training camp,” Mina sniffed.

Chikako let out a sigh at this. They’ve been like that since the end of the practical exams. Mina, Kaminari, Sato and Kirishima were the only four that didn’t pass, therefore they couldn’t join the rest of the class in going to the training camp.

Deku, bless his kind heart, was trying to comfort them. “W-We don’t know for sure yet! There might be a last minute twist!”

“Stop, Midoriya,” said Sero, who was also watching them weep. “If you say it out loud, it’ll probably jinx it.”

“If we failed the exams, then we’d have to skip training camp and be in summer school hell,” said Kaminari bitterly. “And since we didn’t pass the practical exams…If you guys still don’t get it, then you’re dumber than monkeys!”

Chikako rolled her eyes as Kaminari poked Deku in the eyes. Sero tried to calm him down, pointing out that his team won because of Mineta, who did all the work while he slept the whole way.

“Since we don’t know how they’re scoring it–” Sero started, ignoring a smug looking Mineta from his line of vision.

As Kaminari was yelling childishly, the Uraraka cousins tried to settle Deku as he panicked from the uncomfortable pain that came from having been poked in the eyes. Well, Chikako was, Ochako was panicking just as he was.

“Would you stay still, already?” Chikako told the green haired boy.

“But it hurts!” Deku whined.

“Flailing around won’t help you!” she scolded. “It’ll pass, just sit down.”

The door slid open loudly, Aizawa on the other side.

“Once the bell rings, get in your seats,” he said. As he spoke, everyone rushed to their seats in record speed. They stared at the front, waiting for their teacher to begin the class.

“Morning. Unfortunately, there are those who didn’t pass the final exams,” The applied students bowed their heads in shame and sadness. Except Kaminari who hid his pain with a fake smile. “Accordingly, for the training camp in the woods…” Aizawa gave a very creepy smile. “...Everyone’s going!”

Seemed Deku was right. The four celebrated, each happy they wouldn’t get to miss out on training along with their classmates and friends.

“Do you really mean it!?” Mina exclaimed, tears forming in her eyes.

“Yeah. Some failed, but no one failed the written exam,” Aizawa explained. “In the practical, Kirishima, Kaminari, Ashido, Sato and Sero failed.”

Sero doubled over in shock. It seems not doing anything during the whole exam is classified as a failure. He face-palmed, his prediction coming true. His teammate, however, whistled smugly in the back. Sympathy absent from his face.

“For this time’s exam, we on the villain side made sure to leave a way for the students to win while watching to see how you all would take on the task at hand.” Aizawa said. “If we hadn’t, most of you would have gotten stuck before you started.”

Chikako scoffed internally. Tell that to All Might.

“So when you said you were really out to crush us…” Ojiro said.

“That was to make you feel concerned,” answered Aizawa. “In the first place, the training camp in the woods is one to increase strength. So the ones who failed need it the most. They have to get stronger.
