Happy New Year and Beginning

Slowly, everyone made their way inside. Beth had walked up beside us, grabbing Sebastian in an embrace. Turning, I found Chace so I could tell him Happy New Year and to give him a hug to start the year.  I began walking to the house with him since Beth was determined to talk with Seb. Chace spoke quietly as we walked.

"She is so annoying."

"I'm not sure why any of you encourage her to come around."

"It's definitely not me. By the way, I saw what happened and stepped in front of the two of you so she didn't see. I know how Seb is and how you are about whatever it is the two of you call yourselves."

"Friends."

"Oh, yeah? Well, if you're handing out kisses like the one he got, I'm ready for mine." Chace stepped in front of me but was walking backwards so he was face to face with me while I continued walking too. He held his hands out like he was going to embrace me and leaned in like he was waiting for me to come in for a kiss. I started laughing and pushed him a little so he'd go back to walking beside me again.

"Okay, I really don't know what that was. Okay? I guess if Beth ever leaves his side, you could ask him."

"Or maybe you can find out, you know, since you are roommates while we're all here. I mean, come on, it's so obvious. You can see the electricity between the two of you and how easy it is for the two of you to be around each other. I feel like we are good friends, but there is something different with you and Seb."

Glad it was still kind of dark in the part of the yard we had made it to, I tried to stifle the grin I felt spreading at his words, I just kind of nodded along with him. There wasn't anything I could say against what he said to try to hide the truth. Maybe he didn't like the awkward silence as we walked, or he thought maybe he made me upset with his accusations, but he spoke up again.

"Look, you know Seb's my boy, but he doesn't do real relationships well, so if that's where this is going, be patient with him. My opinion? The two of you would be awesome together if you both got past the terminology and your past relationships."

We reached Chace's door first and he asked me if I'd give my opinion on something he had been working on. What else did I have to do at the moment thanks to Beth stealing Sebby and Harry off with whoever he was with. "Sure."

We went in his room and he pulled out a portfolio. I couldn't believe some of the pages he showed me. "Chace, I had no idea you were such an artist. These are wonderful."

We sat and looked over his work for a while and he asked if I had any suggestions for one of his pieces that he felt stuck on. After about twenty minutes, I told him we'd definitely talk more later about this since I knew now that he sketched and painted. He gave me a hug and kissed my forehead before I made my way out and toward the room I'd be staying in. I wasn't even sure Sebby had made it back to the room yet or not.

I turned the knob and began to think he was still out because at first it seemed dark. But as I opened the door farther I could see I was wrong. There were candles lit and as I closed the door behind me, locking it since there were tons of people in the house, Sebastian walked out of the bathroom. The smile on his face was different somehow as he spoke. "Chace kept you busy for a while."

"He was sharing his, ... wait, did you ask him to distract me?"

"I might have mentioned it since Beth wouldn't leave me alone."

"I'm surprised she didn't try to sleep in here with you.  She'd probably even settle for laying between us."

He said nothing, just gave me a look. I couldn't bite my tongue. "Of course she did."
