I quickly looked back to the sky, not wanting to ruin the moment with awkwardness.

"Oh yeah, the city too." She mumbled softly.

Did she just call me beautiful?

My heart fluttered in my chest like a  happy butterfly.

After a while of just swaying on the rooftop, I turned to her, smirking playfully.

"You know I could just throw you off of here right now."

She gave me a dissatisfied look, stepping away from the edge to go sit on a bench further back.

"You wouldn't dare." She teased as I moved to sit next to her.

"Oh but I would. Would make my job a whole lot easier." I said, only half joking.

"Maybe. But you don't seem like the type of girl to take an easy way out." I nodded, looking down at my hands in my lap and fiddling nervously with my fingers.

Killing you would never be easy, not ever.

Suddenly, she caught my attention, grabbing my hand and tapping my shoulder quickly.

"Look Natty! Look there! A shooting star!" She exclaimed, her excitement making my heart melt.

"Where? I don't see anything!" I panicked, scared I'd miss it.

She grabbed my chin, pointing my head to look in the right direction.

I watched in awe as it soared past, lighting up the sky as it flew through the air.

"Wow." She breathed. All I could think about was her hands on my face and in my lap.

"You know what we have to do now." She stated. I shrugged, turning to her.

What do people do when they see shooting stars?

"Kiss?" I asked, secretly hoping the answer was yes. She chuckled, removing her hand from my chin to hold both my hands in hers.

"You wish huh? No, when you see a shooting star, you make a wish. It can be anything you want but you can't tell anyone, not until it comes true."

"That's childish. There's no way a star can grant a wish like that." I murmured. I mean what reason would I have to believe in fate or destiny, or hope? My entire life had been empty of all of those things.

"Childish or not, it's worth a shot, just in case." She whispered, closing her eyes.
"So you're doing it with me. Close your eyes." I did as she said, feeling her raise our hands slightly off of my lap. She wasn't gonna give me a choice anyway.

"Ok, say your wish now, in your head."

*I wish I could be with you Iris, properly, forever.*

I opened my eyes and saw that hers were still closed, but the smile on her face made me smile too.

God I'm falling for her. For fucks sake.

She opened her eyes, catching me staring. I blushed awkwardly.

"Did you make your wish?" She asked hopefully.

"I did." I nodded, making her  smile even more.

A cool breeze blew over the roof making her shiver slightly. She wasn't wearing a jacket after all.

"Come on, let's go." I said, heading to the door and looking back to make sure she was following me.

I frowned when I saw no sight of her.

"I'm here" she said in a serious tone. I gasped, turning to my left and seeing her right there.

"Wh - what? How did you?" I stuttered in confusion.

"A magician never reveals her secrets Madame." She smirked goofily.

I went to go to the stairs but she grabbed my wrist, dragging me sideways.

"Let's take the lift."

"It's an elevator." I teased and she smirked. Then, the realisation hit me.
"Wait you mean we could have got the lift up here instead of all those stairs you dragged me up? Are you kidding me?" I complained.

"Now who's saying lift?" She giggled cheekily.

I rolled my eyes at her, walking into the elevator as it arrived.

"Besides, I hadn't got my workout in today." She stated, standing next to me.

She was so close, her shoulder was pressing against mine and the intoxicating smell of her perfume hypnotised me like no other.

"I could give you a better workout" I mumbled to myself.

Fuck did I say that out loud?

I glanced at her, she stayed silent but the slight grin on her face told me that she'd heard.

Great.

I noticed we were going to the floor above mine, ah well I guessed I'd just walk the rest.

Maybe she'd forgotten where my room was. I'd hoped so, that'd remove the advantage she'd had over me.

When the elevator dinged, we both stepped out and I followed her down the long hallway.

Abrubtly, she stopped, turning to face a door near the staircase.

"So I guess you failed your mission tonight."
