-Jungwons pov-
As we reached the soccer field, our teammates' eyes widened in surprise. The sight of us walking together, hand in hand, in our soccer uniforms was enough to ignite their curiosity. Hanni,
Ji-yoon's friend, couldn't contain her intrigue and approached us with a mixture of excitement and concern."Hanni!" Ji-yoon greeted her, a nervous smile on her face. "I know you probably have a million questions."
Hanni nodded, her eyes flickering with curiosity. "I won't deny that I'm curious. But more importantly, I want to make sure you're okay. This sudden attention can be overwhelming."
"Yeah, it really is." Ji-yoon sighed, letting out a nervous laugh
I could feel Ji-yoon's uneasiness as we stood there, our teammates' inquisitive gazes fixed upon us. We had made an agreement to fake date, but no one else knew about it. We had a conversation about it on our way to the field about why we should keep it going, I have lots of girls who like me in this school and it gets overwhelming, so if we date, they can leave me alone. This compromise also benefits Ji-yoon since she wants to give her ex a taste of his own medicine.
I knew that Ji-yoon needed my support, so I stepped in, intertwining my hand with hers, hoping to provide her with a sense of comfort.
"Don't worry, Ji-yoon," I reassured her, my voice steady and reassuring. "We've got this. We knew there would be questions, but we're both okay with it. We're just trying to have a little fun while keeping everyone guessing."
Hanni looked at us with a mix of curiosity and concern. "But when did this happen? I mean, you two have always been bickering, I never would've expected..."
Ji-yoon took a deep breath, her cheeks turning slightly pink. "I would've never guessed either but It's true, Hanni." I could tell Jiyoon felt guilty lying to her best friend.
Hanni's eyes softened with understanding. "Well as long as you're happy, I'll be happy for you. Don't let all the back-talking get to you." Hanni smiled reassuringly.
Ji-yoon smiled gratefully, her tension easing slightly. "Thank you, Hanni. We'll keep that in mind."
As we walked towards the rest of the team, their curious eyes followed us, their whispers growing louder. Questions about our relationship floated in the air, and it was clear that our teammates were eager to uncover the truth.
One of our teammates, Seojin, couldn't contain her curiosity any longer and approached us with a quizzical expression. "So, are you guys, like, a couple now?" she asked, her voice filled with genuine curiosity.
Ji-yoon squeezed my hand, her eyes meeting mine for a brief moment. I could sense her nervousness, the sudden attention feeling overwhelming. Taking a deep breath, I decided to take the lead and answered the questions for her.
I smiled at Seojin, my voice filled with playful confidence. "Yes, Ji-yoon and I are officially together."
Seojin's eyes widened in surprise, and she exchanged glances with the other teammates who were eagerly listening. I could see a mix of shock and excitement in their expressions, as they had never expected this turn of events. But instead of bombarding us with more questions, they simply nodded, respecting our privacy.
As our teammates dispersed, I could feel Ji-yoon's relief wash over her. She looked at me with gratitude in her eyes, and I gave her hand a gentle squeeze, silently reassuring her that I was there for her.
With the questions about our relationship momentarily put to rest, we joined the rest of the team for practice. As we stepped onto the field, our movements were synchronized and purposeful. We played our roles as teammates flawlessly, passing the ball with precision and supporting each other in every play.
Throughout practice, our chemistry on the field was undeniable. We communicated effortlessly, our understanding of each other's strengths and weaknesses enhancing our gameplay. Our teammates watched in awe as we seamlessly worked together, their once-questioning gazes replaced with admiration and respect.
The doubts and questions that once surrounded us were replaced by a sense of camaraderie. Our teammates recognized the strength of our bond, even if they were unaware of the true nature of our relationship. We were a united front, committed to the success of the team and each other.
As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the field, we gathered together, sweaty but content. Ji-yoon and I exchanged a knowing look, a silent acknowledgment of the secret we shared, even if it was for show.
Our teammates surrounded us, their smiles filled with admiration and support. It was evident that our dedication and unity had earned their respect. We had proven ourselves as valuable members of the team, regardless of the nature of our relationship.
With a renewed sense of purpose, we left the field, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. We knew that our fake dating agreement had brought us closer, and we were grateful for the opportunity to experience this unique connection.
