summary: jeremiah brings some flashbacks to the past with one particular song.
just like usual, jeremiah was dragging you out the front door to another summer party in cousin's. he had his hand around your wrist as you stumbled out the front door, trying to tie the laces of your sneakers.
"hold on, jere!" you say laughing, shutting the door of the beach house behind you. he was laughing along with you, helping you by opening the passenger side door of the red jeep wrangler.
"they're doing karaoke! come on!" jeremiah says, barely able to make it through his own sentence without laughing. you giggle as you sit down in the passenger seat, pulling the seatbelt over your chest.
jeremiah had a tradition everytime the two of you walked into a party. in cousins, guys would wait by the door for cute girls to come and would then try and claim them for themselves. jeremiah made a habit of wrapping an arm around your waist and dragging you away before any of the guys could come up and start flirting with you.
as the two of you walked in, he guided you with an arm around your waist, over to one of the karaoke machines. you grabbed a drink and sat down to enjoy the show. parties were never boring once jeremiah showed up.
two girls came off of their duet, passing off the microphone to jere. you were never big on getting up and dancing in front of everyone. that had always been jeremiah's thing, and you were perfectly fine with that. you saw him type in a song onto the ipod connected to the machine, and you heard the opening beats of 'summer nights' from grease.
immeadiately, a smile breaks out across your face. memories of your childhood at the cousin's beach house flooded through your mind.
* START OF FLASHBACK *
"kids! come dance!" sussanah shouted cheerfully from the living room. the five children of cousin's came rushing into the beach themed living room, full of seashells and different shades of blue.
growing up, laurel and sussanah always hosted movie nights for the kids. once a week every summer. it was tradition. grease was always played at least once every summer. us kids all knew the song by heart.
you walked in with jeremiah at your side, the two of you watching as your mom's danced around the living room together, wooden spoons from the kitchen being used as their pretend microphones.
"summer loving..." sussanah started, pointing the 'microphone' at laurel. "had me a blast!" she finished, laughing and smiling.
you and jeremiah shared a look, shrugging at each other before deciding to join your moms in their performance. you grabbed the tv remote and shared it with jere, singing along to every lyric with him.
during the chorus, you almost fell over from him spinning you around. nobody cared though. the two of you were having fun, and that's all that mattered.
for weeks after, steven and conrad relentlessly teased the two of you. you constantly heard comments at the dinner table such as them mockingly singing along to 'summer nights' and spinning each other around.
it didn't bother the two of you. now that you're older, you seem to think back and wonder why the two of you were so okay with the boys making the jokes they did, and teasing the way they were.
* END OF FLASHBACK *
just the same as when you were kids, jeremiah holds out the microphone, waiting for you to finish the lyrics.
"had me a blast.." you say shyly at first, but before you knew it, jere had pulled you up onto your feet, having you sing along with him.
your confidence soon built up, and you were being spun around to the chorus of your favorite song from 'grease' in the living room of a random house in cousin's.
the two of you were sharing the microphone, singing the words that were practically engraved into your mind. your only focus was on him.
in that moment, nothing could've been more perfect to you.
