꧁3rd person pov꧂
"no, it..." she sighed, leaning back in her chair before trying to explain the problem. "since the protagonist is the main character, and the antagonist is the 'villain' - you have to decide whether or not ralph or jack was the antagonist"
"but, ain't it 'bout my opinion, not facts? so, what's the point?"
"i don't know man, i'm not the one assigning this shit" she groaned, letting her face fall into her hands while miles sighed as well. even after a few sessions, miles was still a pain to help. 'is rio's food even worth this?....don't be stupid, of course it is'
"you the one who's 'posed to be explainin' this shit to me!" the boy across from her argued.
"tch...ok, so-" she started, sighing once again while rolling her eyes. she was not the best choice for tutoring or teaching due to her low patience. "the whole point of the question is to see if you can defend your answer; mr. dick-sucker doesn't care who you choose, just that you use text evidence to support your opinion." y/n finally took the time to explain the question to miles thoroughly.
for a second, he didn't say anything, just nodded and returned to his assignment. another sigh fell from y/n's lips, but this time, one of relief. going back to scrolling through her unread notifications on her phone as she didn't care to finish her school's homework until the last day possible.
silence came between them besides the whispers of other students around them and the sound of miles pencil scratching across his book, underlining what he thinks is important - something y/n told him to do a few sessions back.
but, eventually, all of her unread notifications disappeared and she was left with nothing to do. she mumbled something she didn't even understand and set her phone against the table, watching miles sharp eyes as he read over and over.
just as y/n got comfortable watching his deep eyes scan the lines of words, they shot up to look at her. in an instant, her eyes went down to the book instead, trying not to show her embarrassment, or that she was watching him. he just blinked a few times and then huffed out a laugh before going back.
she just stared down at her book for a bit, biting the inside of her cheeks in embarrassment. she didn't even realize she was watching him. miles was more amused than confused, as he knew she was watching him the whole time.
y/n shifted, glancing down at her phone as if she wasn't totally hypnotized by the mix of intense and soft in his dark eyes just a second ago. still, no notifications. but, it was already four and she needed to get home soon. without saying a word, she pushed her chair back and stood up.
miles immediately glanced up - surprise overriding his once amused smirk. he knew she was leaving. she often did without a word. but, he had an idea this time.
"wait!" he whisper-shouted, still aware of the library rules. "me and some friends 'bouta head to a gas station or somethin', you should join." the boy offered, no nervousness in his smooth voice. even if he was. he was always good at hiding it with a charming smirk.
"i'm good, thanks th-" she responded dryly, only to have him cut her off. he refused to let her go this time.
"i'll get you somethin'...like a token of my appreciation - and you 'ont even have to talk to anyone but me." miles added quickly, knowing if anything, that would be the reason she would deny.
after a few silent moments of anticipation, she shrugged and gave him a half-hearted nod. his smirk grew as he watched her sit back down. this was the first time she agreed to hang out with him outside of the sessions. he could never tell if she genuinely didn't like him, or just wasn't a social person.
