The first day of the semester was here, much to my dismay, which meant the start of all things bad for me. Now that I was Captain, my partying had to be cut back by a shit ton. Especially, now that they're willing to drug test you. I also had to concentrate on my studies and keep up the grades otherwise my Captaincy would be stripped from me. On the bright side, I wouldn't have to see Maikel as much anymore, except for the weekends, he was pretty much invisible in my eyes.

I rolled out of bed with an excessive groan and my head thumped against the ground when I reached the floor. My sheets were tangled between my body but I made no move to sort them out. A foot nudged the side of my body and I grudgingly brought my head up. My roommate looked like a giant from down here, with her white dress shirt and linen trousers-that didn't match at all, ironed to a crisp. Her hair was cut short to just reach her shoulders and she was wearing a pair of glasses that were too big for her face.

"What?" I sighed, facing my head back to the rug again.

"I thought you were dead." She shrugged and went back to sit on her pristine bed, decorated with minimal furniture.

"No, Brooke. I'm not dead." My hand shot up to grab the ringing alarm clock and I repeatedly bashed it against the floor until the noise shut up. "Why are you ready? It's six am."

Brooke finished assorting through her brown satchel and bunched my sheets in her hands, ripping them off me so my ass was in the air. She immediately squealed and looked away, covering her eyes. "Where are your pants?"

I lifted the T-shirt up and pointed to the shorts I was wearing with a roll of my eyes. She peeked through one eye and her shoulders slumped when she realized I was fully clothed. "Nevermind, then. And I wake up at four am every morning without fail to ensure I make the most of my day ahead."

I tried ignoring the lack of emotion in her voice, but damn she sounded robotic. In short, Brooke kinda freaked me out. "Right, well I'm gonna go shower...so, bye." Grabbing my shower caddy and towel, I treaded to the front door when she called out to me.

"Wait! Do you think I could, maybe, come to breakfast with you?"

"I was gonna grab food with my team. What about your friends?"

She bit her lip nervously. "It's just that, I didn't really make friends in my first year." Well shit, now I feel like a bitch. I could tell Brooke was a bit out of her comfort zone asking me this and so far, I didn't have a problem with her.

I walked back to my bedside table and shot a message to the group chat, saying I can't do breakfast anymore. "Sure, it might be a while, though, so I hope you don't mind waiting."

Her eyes lit up at my response and she nodded furiously, plopping herself onto her bed. "Thank you."

"Anytime."

"Are you ready?" I asked her, finishing up my hair. My curls were slowly dying so I had to keep it natural for a while and I couldn't be bothered with a hairstyle so I left them wet.

Brooke nodded, looking up from a book she was reading as her eyes trailed over my outfit. "Are you?" It was simple, a white tank top with low rise jeans. The weather was unbearable outside so this would provide me with some sense of coolness.

"Yep, what'd ya think?" I twirled in my clothes.

'It's...nice." That was all I needed to hear to know that I was going to wear it.

"I know." I said, taking my bag and phone. "Okay, let's go. We have to get there soon before all of the blueberry muffins go cold. You're gonna meet my best friend since she's coming to breakfast with us as well."
