〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️The conch horn signaling dinner blew. As Brooke makes her way to the pavilion she spots the Hephaestus kids walking that way too, but Leo isn't among them. She considers if she should just go to dinner or if she should look for him. She decides to find her friend before heading to dinner. It's not like everyone isn't already used to her not being there.
Just as she approaches the forge, Leo walks out.
"Hey, why aren't you heading to dinner?" She asks.
"I was having a look around. I've never seen so many tools before." He says walking ahead towards the girl.
"Yeah it seems you've found your place. You could tinker to your heart's content." She jokes walking beside him.
"Hmm, why aren't you at dinner?"
"Obviously cause I came to look for you." She says pushing him playfully.
"What? Did you miss me that much?" He smirks.
She rolls her eyes playfully."I just wanted to make sure the curse didn't get to you."
"Yeah... the curse. Did you know about the dragon?"
"The bronze dragon? Yeah."
"What? And you didn't tell me?" He says mockingly offended.
"What was I suppose to say?" She looks at him. "'Oh hey Leo, quick little fun fact for your first day at camp: There's a uncontrollable bronze dragon running around. See you at dinner!'"
He laughs making her laugh too. "Yeah I guess that does sound a little crazy."
"Oh you think?" She shakes her head at the boy. "Well besides that how's first day as a demigod at Camp Half-Blood?"
"8/10"
"That's it?" She asks incredulously. "When I first got here I was in awe of everything. I mean things were a little different back then so I guess I could see why it's an eight. But just wait dinner's gonna totally change your mind."
And with that, she grabs the boy by his arm and pulls him with her to the dining pavilion.
Dinner for Brooke was.. alright. She got to reconnect with her sisters. Yes, sisters, she did have other siblings besides Percy, and yes, they were all girls. Shauna chewed her out, then hugged her, then scolded her again. She was happy to see the twins, both sets. Alexandra and Cordelia were more relaxed than Shauna had been but the underlying disappointment and concern were still there. She was most happy to see Marina and Cora. Though she had kept in touch with the two (don't tell Annabeth), it was nice to be able to talk to them face to face. Even though she was glad she was back at camp, reconnected with her siblings, and downing a chalice of blue coke, she couldn't help the nagging feeling bothering her the whole time that she was a bad sister for up and leaving.
She was hoping that maybe the campfire would be better. The whole camp was settled inside the amphitheater for a sing-along. The amphitheater steps were carved into the side of a hill, facing a stone-lined fire pit.
Fifty or sixty kids filled the rows, clustered into groups under various banners. Brooke went to sit with Piper who had woken up just in time. She spotted Jason in the front next to Annabeth. Leo was nearby, sitting with the Hephaestus kids under a steel gray banner emblazoned with a hammer. Standing in front of the fire, half a dozen campers with guitars and lyres were jumping around, leading a song about pieces of armor, something about how their grandma got dressed for war. Everybody was singing with them and making gestures for the pieces of armor and joking around. It made Brooke realize how much she missed this, singing campfire songs that would've been completely embarrassing in daylight; but in the dark, with everybody participating, it was kind of corny and fun. As the energy level got higher, the flames did too, turning from red to orange to gold.
