Virion Eralith POV

| 4 days later |

"Alright, now we need to reorganize our troops, with Jade indisposed the Elshire forest is going to need much more soldiers than those currently dispatched also I was thinking of sending Aya to replace him" I declared with a tired voice

In the last few days everyone in the Council had been busy, between the order of secrecy about Jade's current status and the preparation needed for the relocation of the troops we were all quite exhausted, it didn't help that the atmosphere was gloomy to say the least

"...at's the point?" Blaine muttered something

"What?" I asked him

"I said, what's the damn point?" he repeated frustrated

"What do you mean?"

"What's the damn point in all this, what chances do we have now to win the war? You told us to put our faith in Jade and Arthur well Arthur is nowhere to be found it's been years since the last contact with the asuras and Jade is comatose with no chance of recovery, even if we go with the best case scenario in which he managed to defeat the two scythes he met there are still 3 of them and the other Lances are barely strong enough to repel a single retainer, how are supposed to win this war Virion tell me because I can't see any way in which we can win" Blaine shouted

"I don't know, I don't know how we can win this war, honestly I'm not sure if we can win but we can't give up, we owe it to all the people that died we owe it to the boy not even 18 yet who fought an impossible battle for all of us and is now desperately clinging to his life, I don't know how we can win but I can tell you that I will not give up, I don't care how hopeless or impossible the fight is going to be, I'll fight even if I have to do it alone" I yelled back

"My father is right, we can't just give up, we still have options, for example we could adopt a defensive strategy, fortifying our cities and holding our ground maybe we'll be able to resist for long enough for Arthur to come back" Alduin proposed

"So we'll just hole up in our houses hoping for some saviour to come and help us?" Bunhd commented skeptical

"Maybe if we had more white core mages we would be able to do something" Priscilla observed

"Right, for centuries we believed that reaching white core without the artifacts was impossible but Jade showed us that it is indeed possible to reach such a level without them, if we managed to have more white cores we could have a chance even if a scythe shows up again" Merial agreed

"That's all sunshine and rainbows, essentially wishful thinking, until we manage to figure out how he reached white stage on his own we'll never be able to replicate the process" Bunhd stated

"Exactly, mages in Dicathen tried for centuries to reach white core yet none succeeded we can't expect to start finding white core mages like mushrooms" Blaine reiterated caustic

"Father, Aya you're the ones closest to Jade here did he tell you anything about how he managed to reach white core?" Alduin asked us

"No I'm afraid he didn't tell me anything" I replied

"Mai only told me that he used to take advantage of whatever free time he had to refine his core" Aya stated

"So we know nothing huh, I know the boy is talented but reaching white core without any help, we should have asked him before" Bunhd voiced

"It would have been pointless, if Jade had some trick to reach white core easily you can be sure he would have used it on Mai and Tess at the very least, that or he would have straight up told us to make sure we had the biggest number of white cores possible" I stated
