Request - Anything with Tate! but maybe he brings home his girlfriend to meet the family! hope that you are doing well!

You were walking through the house, trying to find your husband. Tate would be home any minute now and you were trying to make sure Kayce was with you and your daughter to greet him. You also wanted to make sure Kayce didn't do anything to scare off Anna, Tate's new girlfriend.

They had met at school, and you could tell by Tate's voice over the phone he was already far gone for her. She lived in Utah and since they only got a few days off for Thanksgiving, you had invited her up with Tate to spend it with your family since you were closure to Billings than Utah.

"Kayce?" You called, walking into the kitchen.

"I think he's on the front porch," Your twelve-year-old daughter, Ginny, smiled up at you from eating a peach on the island.

"Thanks," You sighed. "Make sure you wipe that up when you're done."

You walked outside and looked over to see Kayce sitting on one of the porch chairs, watching the entrance to the ranch.

"Hey," You smiled, walking over to him.

"Hey," Kayce looked up at you.

"Been looking for you," You looked down, running your hands through his hair. "What're you doing out here, it's freezing?"

"I, uh..." Kayce cleared his throat. "Was thinking about the first time I brought Tate out here."

You smiled at your 'secret softie' of a husband and kneeled next to his chair. Holding his arm, you looked over at his face and saw the hints of pink in his cheeks.

"I miss him too," You whispered.

"I know it's supposed to be like this," Kayce shrugged. "They just don't prepare you well on the parent side."

"They don't," You sighed. "At least Ginny keeps you on your toes."

"She's your spitting image...and temper," Kayce raised an eyebrow at you. "And she ain't allowed to date until she's forty."

"We're forty," You laughed.

"Exactly..." Kayce huffed. "Like I want to know any man thinking of our daughter the way I think about you."

"If she's into men even," You mumbled, and Kayce gave you a look. "You never know."

"Can I have one shock at a time, please?" Kayce looked forward again.

"Your son dating isn't a shock," You giggled.

"Him bringing a girl home to us is," Kayce said.

"He likes her," You pulled Kayce closer to you by his arm. "Ain't that enough?"

"She's from Utah," Kayce looked over at you.

"So?" You asked confused.

"They're different," Kayce grumbled.

"The rest of the country says that about us too, baby," You dug your fingers into his jacket sleeve. "I don't think that's a good comparison."

"You gonna fight me on this, this whole weekend?" Kayce eyed you.

"I am," You nodded, leaning your head close to his. "Because once upon a time...I was Anna."

"What do you mean?" Kayce asked you.

"There was a time...that I was the girl being brought here," You smiled. "I fell in love with the Dutton boy, and I didn't really have an ally here to help me out. So, I'm going to give Anna the benefit that I should have gotten."

Kayce took your words in for a few seconds before bringing his hand up to hold your chin. His thumb gently ran under your jaw as he pulled you in for a sweet kiss.

"Let's see if she's as strong as you," Kayce mumbled against your lips.

You both looked up to see Tate pulling into the ranch, parking next to Kayce's truck. The Anna situation flew out of your mind the second Tate stepped out because your first baby was home. You ran down the steps and immediately hugged your arms around Tate. He was laughing at first, but then you felt him squeeze you back and suddenly the last four months weren't as bad as you had thought they had been.

"Oh, have we missed you," You whispered into Tate's ear.

"Missed you too," Tate said back.

You let go and looked to the right of Tate to see Anna standing there. She was pretty, tall, and thin with lighter hair and eyes than Tate. She looked kind though, and friendly. You let Tate step out of your arms so he could hug his dad as you smiled.

"Anna, it's nice to meet you," You stepped over and hugged the girl. "Welcome to the ranch."

"Thank you for having me, Mrs. Dutton," Anna said softly. "Your home is...well it's even more beautiful than Tate let on."

You saw her eyes looking out over the land.

"Yeah, that never really gets old," You laughed.

"Anna?" Kayce walked over, holding out his hand for Anna to shake. "Welcome."

"Thank you, Mr. Dutton," Anna smiled politely.

"Let's get inside out of this cold," You shivered. "We've got you both upstairs...Tate, show Anna into the guest bedroom on the mountainside. I wanted you to at least have a killer view."

"Thank you," Anna relaxed a little more with you.

"You're welcome," You looked at Tate. "Ginny will probably pounce once you're inside."

"I'm ready," Tate laughed. "Kind of have missed her wild self."

Tate grabbed both their bags and led Anna back up the stairs and into the house. You paused next to Kayce and smiled up at him. He had a funny look on his face though.

"What?" You asked him.

"You don't see it?" Kayce looked at you.

"See what?" You tilted your head. "I like her."

"I'm sure you do," Kayce chuckled.

"What does that mean?" You pushed his shoulder gently.

"Baby," Kayce smiled. "She looks like you."

"What?" You looked over at the house, but they were already inside. "She does not."

"I mean not identical," Kayce smiled. "But I think my son and I have the same...type of woman."

"Stop it," You laughed. "I like her so far."

"I bet you do," Kayce wrapped his arm around your shoulders.

You hugged his middle.

"Well, I met your father with a shotgun across his lap and your sister throwing whiskey glasses at your brother," You leaned into Kayce. "So, she's already off to a better start than I had."

"Thought that's why you fell in love with me?" Kayce pressed a kiss to your forehead.

"Oh no, it was all the murders," You looked up at him before cracking a smile.

"C'mere," Kayce pulled you in for a kiss.

You smiled as Kayce ended the kiss.

"I could still go get my gun?" He asked you.

"Kayce," You pushed him away. "Come on, let's eat...I'm starving."

Kayce grabbed your hand as you walked back inside your home.
